Looking at 07 TL
I have a 03 tl type S which was super clean and I absolutely loved. 3 days ago I was stopped and rear ended by someone going 45mph. I'm thinking my car is totaled so been looking at new for a new TL. My delima is can't find d any clean 03 type S especially in same color, so looking at 06 and 07 TL's. I test drove a 07 base TL yesterday and was really disappointed. It did not seem to have the get up and go my 03 type S has. Also power steering was horrible at a stop or slow moving. My question is did I just get a bad 07 to test drive or are the 3gen base TL slower than the 2gen type S? What are major differences between 2gen type S and 3gen base?

Hmmm, on paper at least a 2003 TL-S and a base 2007 TL should have about the same acceleration; both of which will be beaten by a 2007 or 2008 TL-S.
To be more specific, the 2007 weighs about 65 pounds more, has a few more horsepower and about the same torque compared to the 2003 TL-S. Dimensionally the two cars are about the same size, each out measuring the other by an inch or two in the various metrics.
Were I in your shoes, I'd drive another 3G TL, and if it still feels wrong to you, find a 2007-2008 TL-S and try that.
