The light in the armrest

I just realized that the armrest storage bin had a light inside. It never worked in my car, and I had wondered what that thing was. I want to change the bulb with an LED. What type/model and color of LED should I get? I don't even know what color the light was supposed to be... (07 TLS)

Also remember the headlights or parking lights have to be on for it to work. I made that mistake when I swapped to LED bulbs, I was like why the heck isn't it working?! oh yeah...

be very careful when trying to reach this light. out of all of the interior lights I swapped, this is the only one I could not get to. I even had the bulb in my hand, but the space is too tight and you need needle nose pliers to get the bulb out.

getting the new bulb in is a whole different challenge...

Check out the glovebox light also.
Both these lights are on constantly so long as your headlights are on.
It doesn't turn off when you close the arm rest or glove box.

Personally, I replaced the bulb when i took apart my center console so that wasn't an issue for me But agreed, it's a bit tough

If my memories serve me correctly you can pop off the white housing lens with a small thin flathead by inserting it underneath the notch (Looks like a wide U notch) and pushing it outwards slowly otherwise you might break that plastic lens. It should bring the housing along with the wires but it's going to be extremely short and won't go that far out since you weren't able to disconnect the wire harness that's hidden underneath the cupholders. From there you twist off the housing lens from the harness and they should be separated and exposes the bulb. Do the switch out, test before putting the housing back on the harness. Then reverse order to put it back in it's rightful place with a simple snap.

I recall this being the method I chose. The other method would be pop the silver trims off, remove the cupholder, detach the harness plug that's underneath it. From there you should have full access to that light bulb harness from behind and the entire housing will be free floating giving you ease of access.

Yup, you most definitely can, it was just easier with everything off
