LEDs above exhaust cutout

14 Attachment(s)
Got inspired by the 2016 Accord rear reflectors and found some LEDs and thought I'd give it a try. Wired them to my parking light which the instructions say are 30% brightness and brake light at 100% brightness so they flash brighter when brakes are on. Routed the wires through a hole in the chassis and double sided taped them on--may go back and use screws.

Pretty happy with them. Slightly bigger than I wanted but these were the thinnest profile ones i could find. I could have wired them to signal but then i'd have to wire them independently which meant 1 more solder, or run a relay and have braking and signaling.

awesome man! I really like the idea! my buddy did in the center of the black garnish

TL-Syndicate23 05-02-2017 07:51 AM

Link?

myron 05-02-2017 08:15 AM

is the heat from exhaust gonna damage them? I like the center mount idea, like the new Z's have. I'd wire it up on a switch only like euro rear fogs.

BreezyTL 05-02-2017 09:20 AM

Great idea, but I personally think they should be moved to a better location. Takes a lot of detail away from the exhaust tips. Can you post a daylight picture?

thoiboi 05-02-2017 09:23 AM

cool!

cp328 05-02-2017 09:30 AM

Niceeee ... looks good

Le7316 05-02-2017 09:34 AM

Center of the garnish looks better....just saying !!!

sockr1 05-02-2017 09:45 AM

creative!

cu2wagon 05-02-2017 09:51 AM

Nice! The TSX has some reflectors right about that location (maybe just a little bit higher) and there's a LED retrofit/swap part that some folks have done to give this similar appearance.

I'd also like to see some daytime shots.

For reference, the TSX rear reflectors:

I think you've done a good budget replication!

BreezyTL 05-02-2017 11:20 AM

Takes away too much from the exhaust. Looks crowded.

x2. I think it would look better on the center as well.

Those look terrible.

eastcoastguy 08-03-2017 12:08 AM

I liked it at first but the more I looked at it the more I was like ehhh. I would think the hot exhaust would cause those to not after some time. Way to try something different though!

ReMiXeDg 08-03-2017 03:05 AM

Its nice at night and on the first look but if you study it or stare at it itll throw you off a little but overall its a very nice mod just needs a little tweaking and it can be 100%

LoveMyTL-S 08-03-2017 02:32 PM

Very nice and clean install. Should add a bit more safety, seeing them with the brake lights.

Superunknown 08-03-2017 03:36 PM

I wish we could get our hands on the CDM bumper and fourth brake light...

Mike-Mike 02-21-2019 03:48 PM

Impressive!! Good idea

KC_Chiefs 02-28-2019 02:48 PM

Again, that Amazon link is not the exact diffuser OP used. He purchased the following S4Play replica diffuser:

Here is a link to his DIY thread:
