Exclamation LED headlight bulb to replace hid for low beam headlight

i believe an hid ballast went out in my 06 TL. i'm thinking of swapping to led bulbs because it seems that they amount to about the same price as a nice hid set. i know i'll probably lose the dust cap, but i've seen some nice and bright leds for headlights and would like to achieve the same result.

has anyone used led bulbs for their 2004-2008 TL headlights? if so, what size bulb do i use? i know the low beam hid bulb size is d2s and i think high beam is 9005. can anyone help or confirm? thanks in advance.

why would you want to replace one of the best lighting sources on the planet with some inferior tech?

FYI...you probably won't get much info that is useful to your journey here. The large majority of users here will tend to shy away from alternate light sources in the headlights for various reasons...which I agree with them. I am still a firm believer that LED technology, especially aftermarket, is still very immature and will not be superior to HID....especially in the longer term. It is very unlikely the beam pattern will be correct from a retro-fit bulb...just like when people put HID bulbs into housing/reflectors that were designed for a filament bulb may be bright as all holy hell, but they also blind the crap out of oncoming drivers since the beam pattern is all over the place.

Also to note...the low and high beam are both the same exact D2S bulb. There is a mechanical flap that moves that does the switch between low and high. The inner bulb in the '04-'06 is a fog light (DRL in Canada) and in '07-'08 they are the DRL.

Get a pair of Morimoto XB35 D2S in 4500k, or 5500k (for a "whiter" more LED like color) and let's never speak of this again.
