LED fog lights 2006 TL

First off mods, I apologize if this is in the wrong sub-forum.
Secondly, What's up guys! Just thought I would share. I just installed some 9006 LED bulbs in my TL. They are bright and look great! Almost a perfect match to the HID's. They were $41 shipped. Had to transfer over my o ring off of my oem halogen bulb to get them to fit in the fog light housing tight like the oem 9006 bulb does. link below where I got these bulbs from.

50W CREE XP-E High Power LED Bulbs For Fog Lights Daytime Lights

Also while I was at it, I converted my fogs to run independently so I can use these bulbs not only as fog lights, but as DRL's as well. I used this method

Also being a visual learner, I used this youtube video too

I thought fog lights would be installed just below the head lights.

[QUOTE=bakaryu18;15699623]I thought fog lights would be installed just below the head lights.

You thought wrong! lol. The 2004-2006 TL's come from the factory with fogs in the headlights, right next to the HID's. The 2007-2008 models come with fogs in the lower grills. The picture you posted is a 2004-2006 TL with aftermarket "Inspire" fogs installed.

I really need to get the lower fog lights installed on my car asap. I have no idea where to even start to buy the wiring and other miscellaneous crap.

Hey Trav2390,

I've been looking all over Acurazine for a good post (with pictures) to find replacement LED fog lights that match the OEM HID bulbs. Most of the existing threads are dated and the purchase links aren't active anymore, so thanks for sharing this with us!

It appears that the LEDs are a close match to the HIDs. However, can you elaborate a little more on how similar the color temperatures are? You stated in our original post that it's a "almost a perfect match to the HIDs", so I'm just curious.

Also, how do the new 9006 LEDs fit in the housing of the headlight. Are they tight fitting (without any wiggle/play room) and do the bulbs "lock-in" snugly when turned during installation? This is obviously important to avoid any excess condensation from creeping into the headlight.

Any feedback would be great!

Factory HID's come in at 4300 Kelvin, so I would suggest that anything in the range of 4300-5000 would be a decent match. In terms of LED's, there can be variations by lot on the final color thrown. I have seen some that look almost greenish. Any high quality LED set w/harness rated around 5000 Kelvin should give you the results that you are looking for (pure white light, not blue and/or green).

The color of the LED bulbs are a very close match to the HID's. Like I said above, not exactly the same, but damn close. I love the color output, pure white 5000k. Definitely makes my car more aesthetically pleasing. Makes the TL almost look brand new and up to date with all the newer cars that have LED day time running lights from the factory.

As far as the fit in the headlight housing goes, like I stated above, I had to transfer over my O-ring (yellow rubber ring) from my stock halogen 9006 bulb and put it on the base of the LED bulb to get it to fit and lock tight. I have been using these LED's since my original post with no issues and no condensation in the headlight. I have driven thru rainstorms and washed my car weekly since I installed them and no condensation has got into the head light housing.
