KBP Type s auto or Red type s manual ?
 
Both car on my mind are approximately 8k . The KBP has around 106k miles and is an automatic , the red one is a manual 126k on the body 36k on the engine . Which one would be a better car . I am in NYC .

All else being equal, pick the 6MT for the win.

Thanks guys . Both have clean title . Maintainance quote upto date but I dont know if they have kept records of it .

Trust @horseshoez when he says buy the 6MT.

We encourage this route through personal experience.

But NYC traffic can be a beezy. Got in a brake checking war with a limo last time I was there. Undercover cop pulled up to me and yelled, “Ay! Take it easy!!”, and sped off.

I am not so sure about the 6 MT because it has "new engine" lol, after my last TL purchase I am kinda done with 3+ previous owners who doesn't want to put money into the car.

Replacement motor seems sketch. Probably got the piss beaten out of it & barely maintained.

I'd vote manual but the replaced motor would be somewhat of a concern.

Ive replaced my engine !!!!! lol

no ill effects, still rockin the TL. nothing is wrong with it, except for non-matching vin engine. and at this point, who cares if it doesnt match the vin?

i've replaced the stock '06 6MT engine with a used '05 auto engine with 100k+ miles.... aint nothin wrong with it...I got 85k miles on the body.

except you are the only one who own the car and fix it since it left SM Lexus lot fool, this TL probably has 4 or more owners who beating the car to hell and not put a single dime in for maint.

Trust me between my Type Slow and the MT TL despite 20k miles apart the car drive like a 3 years old vs 12 years old car.

true....i keep up with maintenance and never let the problems fester .


my most recent "problem" was breaking a motor mount bolt...by downshifting...rocked the engine and snapped the bolt and I couldnt extract it out...had a shop extract the bolt and since they didnt have honda bolts, they replaced the bolt with a stud and lock tight that bitch.

Yup the owner concern makes all the difference. I just tore down the suspension part of my car previously owned by "a buddy's a mechanic" guy, and it looks like nothing but the brake pads has ever been touched down here. No upgrades anywhere (regular TL coulda gone TLS bar, adjust ball joints, better/new bushings) and nothing has been touched. Good to know it got oil and brakes every few thousand but man this mechanic friend ignored all the aging parts on this car in favor of budget.

All depends on who owns the car. If they don't know if the control arms have been swapped, when the clutch/timing belt was done, or when the spark plugs were last changed, it's been driven into the ground. All things that need to happen every 20-100k and an owner for that amount of time should know.

As far as the choices of vehicle, very little information provided. We need to know why the motor was swapped in order to tell more, but usually it's better to have a manual than an auto, especially if that 110k auto has never been replaced. I'd go with the manual, can always find an auto later if its a lemon, manuals are harder to find.

Many folks, myself included, prize stock over moded. Just because a car wasn't upgraded to Type-S parts does not in any way mean it wasn't properly cared for. The thing is, some folks do not like the "harsh ride" of the softest of the 3G TLs (the 2007-2008 base models); the last thing in the world they would ever consider as an "upgrade" would be Type-S suspension components.

Chance if you gonna buy a proper maint MT TL or TL-S then expect the price to be on the high end scale, 7k-8k will get you an ok TL-S still require some medium attention item. If you choose the 07-08 Base then you might get a better shape TL.

As our 3 TL owner pointed out, the less owners the better. 3+ owners is too many. In most cases, your not getting a deal, just someone else’s neglectment.

Research shows that typically, only the first and second owners care for the details of their car. After the second owner, the car typically has depreciated enough to be snatched up by someone who can not afford to keep up with all the maintenance.

Thank goodness we have fellas like troung to keep them healthy.

lol my RL is the opposite, I am the 4th owner and so far during my 20k miles/ 2 years of owing the car. I only had to replaced the A/C fan motor (its making noise) and transmission range switch. The 1st and 2nd owner itch for new car so they traded after 1-1.5 years, 3rd owner has 7 page of records on Carfax, I guess its depend on your diligent of research before pulling the trigger.


But I am agree with you on the 3+ owners/ 10 years old car tho.

Are yiu getting it from benny?? Hes cars are nice bro and hes the acura plug for the northeast. If i had a choice, id get the red manual 6speed type s. Its a unicorn. Very rare car and hard to get clean clean like bennys 6speed type s
