If the car can drive itself on the street there is never a need for a tow hook or on the track. The only use for the tow hook is when you make your 1/4 pass and your tow vehicle is waiting there to tow you back to the pits because your race car is not capable of driving the 1/4 mile back to the pits on its own.
It's so contradictory to have a car driving down the street with a tow hook. My new car has a chute and while it will be removed 99% of the time since it's a street car, I'm thinking of removing the mount as well so no one will know the car runs a chute at the track. Some of us try and hide things that might give away how quick the car is and some add things to make a very slow car look fast to the average 16yr old.
Why not mount a parachute to a TL if you're using a tow hook? It's literally the same except the parachute doesn't contradict it's existence on the street. Not only that, any car that's so crazy that it requires a tow hook will require a chute too (what is it, 160-ish in the 1/4?).
I hope the new owner does not go this direction. The only ones you'll impress are in the 10-16yr old range and that's only a small group in that age range.

Always thought that looked weird. Does it make sense to have tow points though in case of an accident on the track to make it easier to remove?

Oh that makes sense. I thought it was for getting your car onto a truck when you've run it off the track after screwing up and if it can't drive.

I just passed a factory stock Civic with a pink hook and a 16-ish yr old chick driving. I had to laugh since I just mentioned that age range on here and then saw the young chick driving one. If they're going to put toe hooks on Civics, they might as well make it into a contest, Civic dragging like the rednecks do I their trucks.

Same here. My 10 sec car doesnt use one. My 8 sec car I'm in the process of buying doesn't have one. I'm wondering what a 15 sec TL that will never see the track is doing with one lol. All kidding and sarcasm aside, I really would like to know why people do this. Is it to convince people it's a race car that has to use a tow vehicle at the track yet miraculously can drive on the street or is it for the looks of a hook sticking out from your bumper? Am I missing something?

Make sure to seal the headlights with wax or you'll be doing it again in a couple months. I learned that the hard way.
