It's so contradictory to have a car driving down the street with a tow hook. My new car has a chute and while it will be removed 99% of the time since it's a street car, I'm thinking of removing the mount as well so no one will know the car runs a chute at the track. Some of us try and hide things that might give away how quick the car is and some add things to make a very slow car look fast to the average 16yr old.

Why not mount a parachute to a TL if you're using a tow hook? It's literally the same except the parachute doesn't contradict it's existence on the street. Not only that, any car that's so crazy that it requires a tow hook will require a chute too (what is it, 160-ish in the 1/4?).

I hope the new owner does not go this direction. The only ones you'll impress are in the 10-16yr old range and that's only a small group in that age range.
Oh that makes sense. I thought it was for getting your car onto a truck when you've run it off the track after screwing up and if it can't drive.

Always thought that looked weird. Does it make sense to have tow points though in case of an accident on the track to make it easier to remove?

Definitely can be used for that. I was just talking about the original purpose of that style big eyelet hook. It's made to be clipped into easily and quickly by a tow vehicle. On the street, I look at them like the guys that go to the track and leave the shoe polish on the window. It tells everyone you go to the track. I'm guilty of doing that a few times. It gets the guys that don't know what the car is to race.

I just passed a factory stock Civic with a pink hook and a 16-ish yr old chick driving. I had to laugh since I just mentioned that age range on here and then saw the young chick driving one. If they're going to put toe hooks on Civics, they might as well make it into a contest, Civic dragging like the rednecks do I their trucks.

Is it to convince people it's a race car that has to use a tow vehicle at the track yet miraculously can drive on the street or is it for the looks of a hook sticking out from your bumper? Am I missing something?
Agree..I toke off the tow hook and painted the gold part black so now the car is coming together (looks better ) next I'll be taking off the fog lights . The headlights looks new now that I cleaned it.

Keep the pics coming or create a build thread. Just host the pictures in a place where they'll never be lost. It's nice to keep a track of what was done when. I lost a lot of my progress thread initially cause I never created one.

Don't worry about what I say, I'm just talking crap. If you like it, leave it. I don't understand it but that doesn't matter. So are you saying it's black now and blends in more?

Make sure to seal the headlights with wax or you'll be doing it again in a couple months. I learned that the hard way.

Looks better. Now remove that front license plate advertisement & either put a plate or remove it totally & give the car a proper full detail. Maybe clear the haze on those headlight lenses a little.
