|
Welcome Jeff!
|
Thank you Steven.
Champ when I get to work tomorrow I will look it up and message you. |
welcome to the site, we need more member that is working as a service manager .
|
Folks, I hate to be the buzz kill here but please don't turn this into a how much for x amount of products/services as paying vendors are the only ones that can do that.
Welcome to AZ Jeff. |
He should have none the price by heart now....
|
I'll start things off here....
Jeff, I've considered getting the lightweight UR Pulley for the crank. There have been many thread/conversations/fights about this topic. As a matter of fact, I go to Jay Wolfe Acura here in Kansas City to get my car serviced. The mechanic who specifically works on my car suggested NOT to get the crank pulley if my car is a daily driver. I purchased an extended warranty. One of my close friends here on Acurazine suggested waiting until after the 100,000 mile extended warranty expires. What is your opinion on these? |
I got one for you. I own a 07 type s which is cpo and still under warranty. recently my driver side sidemarkers stopped working. Can they be covered under warranty??
|
Lmao, this is a good one.
My only question is are you a mechanic? and what makes you official? schooling? cert? etc.. |
How about this.
Many online dealers provide parts at a 20-25% discount whereas local dealers won't. Most won't even offer a price match if you show them the price. Why is that not possible? This forces me to take my business online and deal/pay for shipping costs which sucks but still ends up being cheaper than buying at my local dealerships. But then again I am forced to buy parts at full cost (often above list price) when its an emergency and I can't wait for shipping. Sucks. Is this some sort of "rule" for dealers or just loser parts managers and their "policies?" |

Welcome. I am friends with a honda service mánager. When I take my tsx to the local honda/acura dealer for service I text him when they try to sell me service I feel is not needed. I get honest answers from him.

Hey Jeff-I can help make your life easier here on AZ.
In the lower right hand corner, the middle icon is a multi-quote button. This allows you to answer multiple people in a single response. I've merged all your posts together, so when you use that icon, it will look like it does now. Cheers! |
If a customer comes in with a transmission shudder how do you address it?
What are common parts you would fix or replace? Edit - adding more specifics, RPM 1500, gears 3 and 4. |

If there are no mods and you have acura care x-warranty then maybe. If you have a aftermarket x-warranty then most likely not. |
welcome Jeff
hoping to learn a lot from you on here... |
Welcome

Its nice of you to offer your help on here, most service managers arent willing to do something like this. I used to work at a dealership and they were always dealing with pissed off customers, I felt bad for our service managers...
|
welcome jeff. glad to have you here

I'm just a new member that works at a Honda dealer willing to help with questions if needed. So I am done wasting my breath, AND WELCOME! This is going to be a wonderful ride for you, I can already tell. |

At my local dealership the service was horrible for the service department. The person I dealt with was nice, that was the only thing stopping me from blowing up in his face and chewing his manager out. I dropped off my car to have the timing belt/water pump service done. It was suppose to be done in half a day. Well two and a half days later nothing. They broke my starter, told me they only used factory parts but he was telling me he was calling napa auto parts and local auto parts store for the parts, that doesn't add up, he just told me they only use factory parts, lie 1. Then he said the part got in from factory but the tech left for the day and it will be done first thing in the morning. Fine. Morning comes, nothing I call and he tells me the part just arrived, well what happened to it getting here last night? lie 2. Then later he tells me 11am it will be done, went there, it's still all torn apart "waiting for the right starter" wrong one came in apparently. I asked him if the idler pully and tensioner adjuster pulley was replaced, he said yeah, the horrible (elaborate later) mechanic said he only replaced the drive, timing belt, water pump and tensioner. Not the idler pulley and adjuster pully. So lie 3. So now I'm furious, starter is broken, "wrong one ordered" and now that the timing belt is back together there's no way the mechanic is really going to take everything apart again just to install the idler adjuster and tensioner pulley. So I walk back in, talk to the service guy and tell him I am ticked off that it was not done, especially when I gave him a list of parts that I wanted done and he told me over the phone all those parts will be taken care of. So I make him go get me the parts from the parts counter, then deliver it to the mechanic to put in on because at this point I'm not believing him, I want to see it. I said, I'll take the box (so that way they can't re-stock it and have to use the parts on my car) he tells me he can't, the mechanic needs it new in the box, LIE 4, if it's going on my car why can't I have the box, it's just a plain box with the bar code on it. Hours later I call and he said "oh it literally just got done now" bull I wonder how long it's been sitting there, Lie 5. Knowing that he probably took the idler tensioner and the adjuster and re-stocked it back to parts department once I left, I ask to see the old parts, he brings out everything BUT those two leading me to believe that he didn't give it to the tech to install because the tech didn't want to take everything apart again. So pretty much he went to the parts counter, got those parts, showed me them, and once I left he gave it back the the parts people to put away instead of giving it to the tech. Now onto the "master" tech, who was too lazy to put on the parts. Went home, find a bolt missing from my battery tray, missing my fuse box cover, so it's exposed now, and missing my radiator fluid filler plastic trim cover, and loose plastic trim on the valve cover. Then I wiggled the battery cable, it came right off, he didn't even tighten it, so I could have been driving and all of the sudden the power goes out. Safety hazard!
What should I do? Contact customer relations with Honda? Wait for the survey and tell them this? He was extremely nice and apollogetic so I was in a tough situation to chew him out and I wouldn't want a ticked off "master" tech to re-do everything and slack off doing something so important. Thanks. |
I do disagree on the part where you say mods will greatly effect the outcome of your warranty. That is untrue... the only way it would is if it directly caused the problem.

Marine, it's incredibly difficult to read your post. All the type runs together like you didn't take a breath!
If possible, please use paragraph breaks, so it is easier to read! Thank you! |
Welcome aboard and subscribed for hopefully good stuff.

My only question is are you a mechanic? and what makes you official? schooling? cert? etc.. What`s a hypotenuse? Why does a package of hamburger buns contain 6 buns but a package of hamburger meat only makes 4 burgers? What do you do with the leftover buns? Can you answer these pointless questions for me please? Oh and btw welcome Jeff. Glad to have you here! |

Not for nothing but most Service Managers are limited in knowledge about the product they work for. It's more important for them to achieve a great CSI rating, while doing this they may also have labor cuts on the technician's and also offer a ton of warranty work for those well out of warranty. Welcome to the site, not trying to step on your toes, best of luck.
