If I change my license plate bulbs to LED will i get pulled over/ticket?

So ive read a bunch of threads of you guys changing out the license plate bulbs. I've done my complete interior LED white and love it. I'd really like to do the license plate but someone at my work was telling me he got pulled over specifically because of his bright blue style LED license plate bulbs. Btw I live in NY state.

If for any reason cops are pulling people over for these im not even going to waste my money. Those that have changed, have you run into any problems with the law?

Yup, there is no area that allows blue lights on the outside of a car while the car is moving.

White is fine.

Blue, Red, etc. is just asking for trouble.

Unless someone has the reliability test data on a particular LED replacement the aftermarket LED just don't seem to have the reliability. Forget the Blue, because that just screams pull me over.

I seen a red 350z with red LED license plate bulbs on the way to class the other day. I'm surprised he hasn't got pulled over yet.

I had these white LED on my TL for at two years with no trouble in terms of flicker, etc. Police don't care one whit about brighter white lights:

What he said....doesnt get much gayer than putting blue lights in/on your car. Unless your a teenage boy that drives a civic or something, but even then its not cool, they just think it is.

Now if you were only talking about doing white LED's then your 100% fine as a lot of new cars actually come stock with white LED plate lights. Lexus for example..

White LED should be fine. BLUE is reserved for emergency vehicles only

well GA the law states you can have blue lights as long as its not revolving or flashing. Breaklights can not be modified though. It really depends on where you live.
