I Replaced My Clutch Master Cylinder Yesterday

I've had the annoying creaking problem whenever I press the clutch pedal for ages now, and I just couldn't take it any more. I can't believe the difference! The clutch engages faster and the car just seems to fly faster too. It took Paul, our star master mechanic in North Jerzy just over 3 hours since he had to take so many things apart to get to it then bleed the clutch fluid, a feat unto itself.

So for those of you 6-Speed owners who've been putting off this replacement, don't wait another minute! Get the LUK clutch master cylinder from Rockauto, about $32.

After 14 years and 286K miles, it was definitely about time. Happy shifting!

That's what regular maintenance and synthetic oil changes do! My slave cylinder is still the original.
CVD?

Checkvalve Delete...
I would like to add too that I had great success putting Honda High Temp Urea grease in a syringe in applying it through the 2 notches into the master from the pedal side. I tried all sorts of moly and lithium grease and it would always return within a few weeks and months. That Honda High temp shut it up for years at a time IIRC.

Just another option but thanks for sharing DMZ...grandma's couch under the dash was fucking infuriating!

That center shaft that sticks out and connects to the clutch pedal is what was worn out. Grease will only go far. I've used grease before and it only lasted a couple of months.

In fact, I've been having random symptoms of late as if my clutch was going again, they're completely gone now!

well, I used to use "the club" to push it in almost all the way to give the space.
I'm sure replacing it is better, obviously.

how much did you pay to install? did you do the valve delete?

I've always hated the way the clutch transitions between gears in the TL. can never get fast smooth shifts without a little minuscule jerk before fully engaged... so wondering if you did the delete and how that feels as well.

I also get some creaking on my clutch. Is it usually the master clutch cylinder? Or is this something some lube can fix?

Lube fixes are only temporary. The only true fix is to replace the clutch master cylinder.

Trust me, it'll be worth it!

Fuck the LUK CMC.

I bought one, installed it, bled the system... didn't work. Bled again... Didn't work. Bled again.... didn't work. Quadruple checked everything, removed the CMC 3 or 4 agonizing times... still didn't work.

The CMC was faulty right from Rockauto. Fuck that thing. Ended up buying an OEM one and had everything working again the first time.

The clutch master is actually simple to do. The bleeding is also very easy with a second person. What took me almost an hour was removing the 2 plastic clips holding the clutch line to the frame, what a PITA. The clearance is so tight it's hard to get a good cutter in there. Ended up gouging it endlessly with various screwdrivers. Also lining up the fork into the firewall hole blind is tricky while hunched. Then not even a few weeks later, i found my current 08 type S, and I had to do the job 2 more times lol.
