How to tell if engine has been replaced?

The paint doesn’t match other parts that are connected to the engine such as the transmission. The paint looks really new and I am questioning whether or not this is the original engine in this car. Is there anyway for me to be sure if this engine has been replaced or not? Where is the VIN location? Thanks to whoever responds

Edit: This is an 06 Acura TL

I don't know how to tell. Have you done any research to find this out? I'd be interested in knowing myself.

The easiest way would be to check the VIN tag, if it doesn't match then that answers your question. If its missing, then its either a JDM engine or someone removed it (possibly a dealer replacement as well, I don't think those come with a new tag and I think its illegal to remove the tag and swap it over). If the mounting bolt/rivets are damaged then someone messed with the VIN.

It should be located on the side of the engine where the engine and transmission meet right above the bell housing. I honestly don't know if you will be able to see it without taking stuff out of the way. Regardless if there are no issues with how the car runs, I don't see a problem if the engine has been replaced, you could also look at the engine code on the front of the engine, that would at least tell you if its the correct engine for the car (should be j32a3). But only the VIN would confirm if its from your car.
