How many miles do you have on your Type S?
Hey fellas, just curious for the people that have the 07-08 type s how many miles are you currently sitting at? I am about to hit the 160k mark on my 07 and am starting to come up on some repairs such as a leaky power steering, a bad motor mount, and a cracked serpentine belt. I have had the car for coming up on my 7th year and have put around 125k of those miles on without once being stranded on the side of the road due to something going wrong. It is starting to get to that point where I am wondering how much longer the pure bliss of nothing but scheduled maintenance can continue and was curious how your cars are doing and what mileage you are sitting at. Ideally would love to get to 300k miles with the car.
Thanks

Hey schedule maintenance is not bad considering no car payment. 160k and replacing motor mount is not bad at all.
I replaced all my mounts at 89k when I purchased the car 2 1/2 years ago now have almost 94k I don't drive it much.
Had to replace all brakes and rotors, plugs, radiator, rad hoses, front control arms, links, serpentine belt and will be doing
the 105k timing belt service this summer a little early.
These Type S motors and trannys are solid so I'm sure you can make it to 300k np with regular maintenance.

You talk about repairs but at those miles you should be doing some PM like timing belt, tensioner, water pump and drive belt (serpentine belt). I guess they havent been done if you have a cracking serpentine belt.
Mine only has 39k on it and i did belt due to age and as others mentioned it was fine but Im 100% risk averse. Id look at that soon given your miles if that PM hasnt been done.

I am at 113K on my 07 6MT. Haven't had to put any money into it, since buying it back in September, other than the PCSV to fix the stupid tighten gas gap error message. But I knew about that before I bought it. Good preventative maintenance and not beating on it all the time will go a long way!

Only 76K on my 08 Type S

Hi MNnice...
I've got an '07 Type S with about 190k on it. I bought it used in 2010 when it had 86k on it. At the moment I'm running into some repair items that are similar to yours:
Previous repairs include: Replaced alternator, power steering pressure hose replacement (covered by recall), HandsFree unit failed (drained battery all the time due to a short in the circuit board), false "Tighten Fuel Cap" warning due to failed EVAP Purge Vacuum Switch Control Valve.

- Cracked motor mounts (gonna have these replaced at my next major service at 210k)
- Leaking power steering rack and pump (dealer wants $2700 to fix that)
- Check-engine light just came on due to failing catalytic converter (getting a CARB-compliant replacement from Walker Exhaust, $100-ish)
- Coolant Control Valve failure (already fixed by dealer, $300)
- Leather turned to complete shit, getting all skins redone locally to look like stock next week.

currently sit at 107 k miles, nothing major except for the rack and pinion replacement which cost me $1200 at the dealer. I pretty much stay on top of the maint, I repair stuff before it even become an issue.

All this feedback is helpful. I bought a 2007 KBP Type-S a month ago and it has only 97,000 miles on it so your comments help me know what to expect in the years and miles ahead.
I intend to keep this car for the long haul just like I've done with my Legend (552,000 miles) and 2013 ILX (198,000 miles).

I have a 2007 6spd with 155k on it. I have owned it since 88k. Held off on the timing belt until 120k. At that time, the AC compressor disintegrated requiring that I replace the entire system. Front brakes were badly warped around that time so I replaced all four corners with Brake Tech (?) slotted rotors and pads. Big difference in braking. Alternator went out at about 140k. Easy replacement. Clutch breathed it's last breath around 145. I consider all of that to be routine except for the AC. I have not heard of many failures as spectacular as mine. It happens, I guess. I have recently just passed this car down to my daughter and I fully expect it to go another 150k miles without many other issues beside regular wear and tear.

'07 getting ready to cross 136K. Had since new; has a power steering seep and the leather has torn a bit on the driver's side. Has some "blemishes" mainly in the front, but she's still serving me well. Love it too much to part.

Nothing immediate maintenance-wise but will be doing timing belt/water pump soon and rear brakes.

2008 6spd Type S here. Bought Oct 2012 @ 58k(ish) miles. Currently sitting around 90k
I bought it from an Acura dealer with an extended warranty. Found the TSB list and pretty much insisted my car had every problem listed (they replaced axles, motor mounts, pwr seat ecm, sunroof motor + rails, 3rd gear synchro, clutch kit * paid for that*) bunch of other stuff I can't remember. So I gotta say, my car's been extremely reliable so far

07 type S CBP 120k, bought cpo in 09 with 30k on it.
Still running great and I DO beat on it. I don't drive like a madman all the time but I don't baby it either. Sometimes I drive it like I'm mad at it. It's just a fun car and this J35 is Bulletproof.
I just got a 17 jeep srt and I still enjoy driving my type s more. I agree with what others have said, there's nothing else like it within reason.
I've done all the usual wear and tear stuff a few times, (tires, brakes, rotors). 105 service. Serpentine belt. The rubber tube to the air box cracked I had to replace that. Minor stuff.
I've recently had motor mounts replaced, power steering pump replaced, bent front axles for some reason, oh and my trunk spring broke. It sounded like a gunshot when that thing went, scared the piss out of me.
I've had that P0420 catalytic converter warning for a few years now but I still pass emissions so I'm not in a hurry to fix it. And I took care of that tighten gas cap thing.
All in all I'm still very happy with it and I think it was the last great car Acura ever made.

Appreciate all of your guys' feedback on this. I just crossed the 160k mark about a week ago and left on vacation. Came back to find my alternator and radiator were toast and it costed me $1700 to fix. I am with most of you guys in the sense that I love the car way too much to part with it at this point. I feel I have kept the car well maintained and serviced and am hoping that will pay off. I am looking at these costs now as being the only real things that have failed since my time of ownership, and when I put it in that perspective I am not too upset about it.

198k on mine currently.

I have 190,000 on my 07' Type S. The usual repairs-made myself-Lower compliance bushings, all motor mounts and upper transmission mount, rebuilt power steering pump-started leaking at 165,000 a $1.00 o-ring is really all you need!. All 4 struts-Koni Str.t's and getting ready to do the CV axles both sides. Also right front wheel bearing. All this would be kind of expensive at the dealer. Cheap if you can do things yourself, highly recommend it.
I love the car the more I own it, that's the weird part!

'08 TLS 6MT about to have 223k. Owned it around 6 years. All scheduled or expect maintenance done. Original clutch (as far as I know, 2nd owner). Replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders last year. Just had the original alternator rebuilt last week, $90 for rebuild, removed it and reinstalled it myself.

2007 Tl Type-s with 153K, and motor wise it's solid. But i'm pretty religious about PM though. My biggest problem is the interior door leather is starting to come un-glued, and it's coming up in the corners. But that's probably because it's getting old and the 100+ degree temps where I live.

2008 TL-S CBP 103k miles. Just got the timing belt/water pump, spark plus, oil change (Amsoil) and tire rotation done this week. Wow, what a difference in performance. Other than maintenance no issues. Love this car.
