@OsK: I just want to know if you're sure that the Strongarm 4160 will fit an 08 TL-S. When I check via Amazon, it is telling me that those struts will not fit the 08 TL-S. I am all for getting the better product, but I just want to verify that the 4160's will fit. Thanks.

I use the strong arm, they are really bomb, the hood stays up with just one!

Just order these myself. Tired of my ghetto clamps or jack handle bar holding up my hood.

I replaced the TL's ones today damn, pulled the driver side one off and the hood dropped! (luckly was to the side and was able to catch it). Put on Strong Arm 6351 (got them from Amazon.ca for canadian folks for 50 bucks and some change minus a gift card I had for Amazon).

The one strong arm is able to keep the hood up no problem, with 2 it feels like my hood is going to pop off

Another plus one for Strong Arm hood lift supports. Took less than 3 minutes to do both sides.

Yes it will fit. Just make sure where you pop it in is aligned. You can twist the ends to match where you push it in.

4160 or 6351 should fit fine.

Thanks for sharing.

I always wanted StrongArm ones but when I looked on Amazon.com, it was quite expensive.

So then I was about to process my order with rockauto until I read your post.

Checked out Amazon.ca, and they had the strongarms.
No dealing with currency conversion, it had free shipping, and shipping took 2 days (I placed order on March 15).

Just installed them and couldn't be happier, thanks to your post.

Rockauto comes to $41 USD, convert that to CAD is $52.43.
Amazon.ca came to $53.94.

Are there any differences between SG326009 & SG365001? I keep finding that one is for the 04/05 and the other is for 07/08?
Rock auto only has the 04/05 ones left in stock (SG326009).

I just wanted to make sure since i have an 07, even tho I believe both should fit based on the comments above. Please confirm - Thanks

Go with StrongArm 6351/4160. You won't be disappointed, or replace them every 4 years

My hood lifts are faulty for awhile. Have to hold up the hood with piece of wood when working few times fell on my head. This winter noticed the hood near the lifts doesn't shut properly. Think it's the hood strut lifts on the passengers side, making the hood warped not flush when closed.

Only about 15 inches of the hood is not flush with the passenger fender exactly above the hood lifts.
Does anyone believe a faulty hood strut lift can warp the hood lifting it when closed? Thought at first ice bent the hood or warped the metal at the fender and hood seams, in the winter.

Now i think it has to do with the lifts making one corner not shutting properly bulging up slightly. Almost can stick my fingers in between the hood and fender at the passengers side of the hood.
Anyone agree?
Or could it be a hinge problem?

Either way i need new strut lifts buying them see if it corrects the body of the hood shutting flush with the fender.

I just replaced mine today on my '08 TL Type S with the parts I bought from RockAuto, com at <$15 a piece. Fits perfectly, part number SG365001 for both the left and the right. You can can spin the bottom around.

Use a piece of wood to prop the hood up while changing it but I find that it it's quicker to replace if you "loosen" the clips first.

i did this last winter. very easy. i did this swap in the dark by myself and very little ambient lighting. definitely would recommend saving yourself the $ and doing it yourself.

i have almost 0 mechanical experience. i have only changed bulbs and fuses on my car.

used this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

yeah, I just ordered the strongarm set from amazon. The 206 was listed by my local dealer the last time I was in for a fluid change, trying to figure out how they were able to arrive at that price.

and just to be clear, I was being sarcastic, there is no way I would need them to do something like that for me.

According to Rockauto this is the part number for 05: SACHS SG326009

The part number you listed fits 07-08 and not sure if it fits.

Monroe 901709 works on 2004-2005
AMS Automotive 6351 works on 2004-2008
Sachs sg326009 works on 2004-2005
Sachs sg365001 works on 2006-2008

2005 - https://www.rockauto.com/?carcode=1430829&parttype=1404
2006 - https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...t+support,1404

So, one out of four (AMS) has the same part number for 2004-2005 and 2006-2008. Fwiw, I recently bought the Monroes for about $12.50/ea - the installation was easy and they work great.
