Honda/Acura modding pro! ***NOT***

so I was at my local Autozone store today to get refund on couple merchandise that I didn't use during a brake job on my accord. I over heard one employee has a conversation with his friend and they are bragging about who got the fastest Civic in town, then they went on talking about turbo tuning with AEM stand alone system ($1500 unit one that made popular for civic) seem like legit so far. Until the employee starting to getting into J30,J35 swap into the civic, here is the point where the story start to get interesting lol.

He guy say that if he ever does the swap 6spd MT with LSD will be also bolt on. The employee replied "nah man those are hard to find be cause they only made for one year and its 04 , I just roll my eye ball and laugh really since when our 3rd gen TL loose the LSD in MT from 2004? LOL. MT with LSD was introduce in the 03 CL-S MT and these fast civic owner didn't aware of it because the popular MT none LSD they are talking about come from 03-07 Accord 6spd. They didn't even know if they use the MT from TL then it will need custom weld on some place for the linkage.

Then the other guy say "what about J37?" the employee "J37 isn't even exist yet (WWWWHAT?), then he continue with you can just swap out the throttle body for a cable version instead of drive by wire but they also didn't know that between J30A4 and J35A8 most of the sensor and wiring harness is different (I know this because a guy in .net did this swap into his 7th gen Accord and his complaint was "if I know this much work involve I would stay at J30 motor instead).

Finally I didn't know AEM offer tuning ECU for our J30/32/35? if so then why every body want to wait for J&R ECU LOL. I just shake my head and say that "you all get it wrong" the employee look kinda piss off after I said that and ask me "what are you driving? a Chevy Cavalier?" they both laugh until I point out my TL-S park outside. They didn't aware that 3rd gen TL came with Type S and they thought it was just a badge from Ebay LOL.

Conclusion, those guy should just stick with their Civic and B series motor since they are know so much about Honda engine, BTW the employee claim that his 94 Civic coupe with LS motor gain 40 WHP on catback, header, intake . I mean now I know why most people making fun of our Vtec and call Civic as "RICER" after all these guy just embarrassed them self by talking nonsense lol.

-Employee tried to upsell pad grease.

-I inquired why its so special if you apply it to the back side where there are no ceramic pieces.
-employee proceeded to tell me you use the grease on pad materail.

I love people like that. I let them go on and on and even ask dumb questions so they can dig themselves in. Especially dealers. I let them lie to me for as long as they want before I rip them a new one with facts.

That's pretty funny. The banter will change based on the store you're in. The Napa guys seem to know their stuff but of coarse don't talk about tuning Civics. They're into Turbo Diesels and Fords.

I go nah its stock, he didn't want to believe me and asked how its possible for a 3.0 to have that much HP stock. I walked away.

I was at advanced auto yesterday, nice clerk there.
He picked up the phone and said "Advanced auto parts, Money speaking how may I help you?"

I was cracking up so hard, his name was money. Aside from that, nice guy.

What a bunch of idiots and unfortunately the Honda scene is exactly like that and mixed with a bunch of thieves!

They tried to make fun of you thinking you drive a cavalier (and you a type-s) but he works at autozone smh..and probably drives a rust bucket..

nice story.
The best part about it is when they either see or you tell them what it is. Usually ends in silence.

Good story, it makes me miss my LS/vtec turbo civic, that thing destroyed so many vettes and mustangs... I cant stand people that go on and on about cars when they have absolutely no idea what theyre talking about. At first its funny, but then they just keep digging themselves into a deeper hole when you finally call em out on it.

I loved going to parts stores to get parts for my SBC powered Rx7. Really threw them off when they asked what kind of car/motor at the parts counter....I would watch them scratch their head for a bit then I would hand them a list of part numbers to put them out of their misery. Cant tell you how many times I had to walk a Napa, Autozone, Advance, or Carquest employee to my car to prove that I had a V8 Rx7....lol...

If you want frustrating, try taking your 95% stock car in for a smog check and the redneck refusing to smog it because of the "aftermarket supercharger thing".

These are the types of morons that you tell to always leave a cd playing in their cd player because the gyroscopic forces of the cd spinning helps with suspension stability and self leveling....lol....
