Hilarious 'Acura Tech' dialogue when servicing TL-S
had my dashcam running...
Hear the noob kid techs freak out to see a TL-S 6MT.... hear the tech howl with excitement when he says "ooooh its manualllllll"...then they walk to front to see the beastly 3.5L...while the tech goes "very rare...very rare".....some noob tech in background "what happened to the type S badge?"... with a response "he took it off"...followed by "whyyyyyyyyy"...then the "yo man I like this car".. lol..who the hell are these Acura techs?..buncha kids.. (I debadged the Type S emblem)
I guess this next generation of acura techs have forgotten all about the Type S?!

Let's just say it ended with the "techs" not giving me my credit card when asking for it back and the cops being called.

Maybe I should upload the audio of the "techs" at the dealership when I had my car serviced for the timing belt. They called me vulgar names, when they thought I couldn't hear. One party consent in my state and I use it whenever exchanging money for service/goods.

Everyone has their price unless you are saying you wouldn't sell no matter what.

Oh god why would you even trust these guys with your car? Fuck that. Get away from my car. Here is a ball. Go play in the grass.

I guess they never seen a manual Type S before.

I just picked up my car from the dealer after having a wheel alignment performed and sway bar links replaced. They noted the mileage in as xx355 and mileage out as xx357, however it was really xx363 when I picked the car up. I can only imagine they were out joy riding in it - one of the reasons why I would like to have a dashcam wired into the car.

Lol, I have the same thing happen when I pick up parts from the dealer.
Sales guy: Want to trade it in?
Me: Nah
Sales guy walks over and looks inside sees its a manual.
Sales guy: Oh it's a 6 speed!, yeah I would hang on to it, these things are awesome.

I wonder if this is acura dealer or just a grease monkey shop? I can understand if it is your normal Jiffy Lube but if this was at a dealer...it's a bit un-nerving.

No doubt, everyone should leave a recording device in their car at least once while dropping off their car at a dealership. Most would never step foot back in the dealership for maintenance or repairs.
Ever notice those nice little oil change deals they toss around. If you partake of these deals, check your oil filter after the change, then go back and re-read the "coupon."

The local techs in Boston wouldn't know a Type S from a Prius. They don't have any clue how to drive manual either - caught them on my dashcam stalling dozens of times in their own garage.

When I was down in New Jersey a few months ago I took my car to Park Avenue Acura to have new tires mounted (tires I bought from TireRack), and an alignment. The guy who brought my car out to me asked if I'd be willing to sell it; I just smiled and thanked him for the compliment.

I've been contemplating selling mine, but not sure what I would replace it with......

It was a timing issue. I have a new job which keeps me pretty much busy 7-days per week; I took a couple of days off to visit my mom in a nursing home in New Jersey and Park Avenue is literally around the corner. Two birds with one stone.
I've been through the same thought process a few times; if my car was somehow lost, stolen, or totaled, I would probably shop for another 3G 6MT TL.

First, that's awesome you caught that on camera!
can we start a club for this, I'm right there with you guys. Other than still being attached to the TL, I still love how it looks, I enjoy driving it, the seating position is great. Also, it was my first car bought new, so those are reasons I want to hang on to it.
Then there is the issue of what other cars are out there. I find that before I consider a car an "upgrade" from the TL, the $ amount is pretty high, so then I start debating with my self, why not just buy a cheap maybe used car for a few years (this is if the TL is totaled or something happens to it). Anyways, I'm hoping for another 5 years out of the TL, or maybe longer and the kids can learn to drive a stick with it
