Help with HID fogs intallation
I got my HID kit for the fogs today. Anyway to do the install without removing the bumper? And when just installing the HID fogs you don't need a relay/battery cable do you?

no relay/battery cable needed.
and i always done installs on tl's via the fender liner. take off the 1 bolt that holds the bumper near the wheel well n a like 2 clips that hold the fender liner n bamnnn. instant access.
some people might say its the wrong way/this/that. it works every time for me! i mean look at my screen name ive only done hids for like 5 years..lol

Thanks man! So take 1 bolt off? What kind of blt? Do you have any picture or something you can assist me with?
And the drivers side should be the hardest would one have enough room to mount the ballast? Thats great news! thanks!

its more of a phillps screw. unscrew that n the bump should come loose, just enough to work on it. then dont forget those "push-pins"/clips that hold the fender liner. take the ones closest to the side ur working on out(2-3 of them).
n yes there is more than enough space to mount the ballast on both sides.

Because I don't have anyone to assist me this weekend and I just dislike removing components like bumpers. On my BMW everyone said to remove bumper but the job was done without removing it....so is it possible or not? I think it is since Franklin chimed in so I will give it a try and let everyone know.
When installing a plug and play kit you don't need to cut/splice anything right? Do I have to dremel a hole in the bulb holder?

you don't need anyone to assist you with the bumper you can do it by yourself. jsut make sure you lay a long blanket or something soft all over the floor so if you do drop the bumper itll just hit the soft fabric.
its easy to remove it just seems scary. had to remove mines for a-spec front lip kit, and than again to vinyl my front grill. once you do it once yourself you'll be comfortable with doing it more often when its needed.

removing bumper is so easy....plus the install is SO much cleaner if u can do it with the bumper off. if you tried it with bumper on, even if you succeed, you will most likely be ziptie-ing or taping the ballasts somewhere bad. My ballasts are slim ballasts and fit perfect in the space under the headlight, double sided tape down, no zipties and looks so clean. i refuse to do ghetto work(sloppy ziptie-ing) on my TL

Well I asked my friend he did the HID fog install in his 07 TL with just the fender lining. It took him 30 min. So I think I am fine 
. I don't mind the ballast being ziptied.

You should be OK with just the fender lining. Like everything else, like changing the HID headlight bulbs, yes you can do it while the bumper + headlights are on the car with a lot of finesse, but it's a million times easier if you had more room to work with.
I used these: 3M Dual lock fastners.

They're not velcro so it should hold up. Make sure to clean all surfaces with alcohol to ensure a good bond. I only used zip ties to ties up extra cables and not to hold the ballast since the slim ballast fairly light weight.

There is absolutely no reason to take the bumper off. PERIOD. Anyone who is doing so to mess with the fogs is creating more work than necessary. Regardless of how ''easy'' it is.
As others said, you can access the fogs via removing a few of the plugs in the fender lining. No relay is needed but you will need to bump your fuse from a 10a to a 15a.

Can you do the job without removing the bumper.. yes. Can you do a real clean install without removing the bumper.. chances are probably not. Ive installed my ballast right to the frame of the vehicle and ran my wires nicely then zip-tied the extra wiring together and tucked it away. Have fun with the install.

The ballast make a buzzing noise but lights do not turn on...I found out its the fuse so I got a 15amp fuse from acura will install soon. It was easy to install without removing the bumper.

ALWAYS use a relay for HIDs.
I don't care what anyone else says, you can avoid so many problems, large and small, by using a relay harness.
I would especially hate to see a "My car burned up" thread.
I removed my bumper to install. Made it simple to mount and run wires cleanly.

I am sure its the fuse because if I change the wires around I get no buzzing sound which means no power to ballast. Even the OEM acura HID make a buzz sound.
Relay is dangerous and can cause a fire. I asked Acura if 15A is fine and the guy working said he has it for his TL and it is perfect. He said after 20A you can get some problems.

Are you seriously not using a relay harness? And do you seriously think a relay harness would cause a fire? If so.. you have been very misinformed and don't understand the necessity of why a relay harness is an absolute must with HID kits.
A bit of advice.. spend the extra 10 bux and save yourself a massive headache later on.

^^ LMAO Thats true about the point of a Relay... I really doubt your HIDs would cause a fire without it but NE Ways... I installed my HID Fogs without removing the bumper. I do agree you have more access to things when its off but since the fender lining is less screws to take off I did that method as well as I didn't know how simple it was to take of the bumper of a TL till the other day. If u do use 3M tape you should not have a need to take off the bumper but if ur going to screw in the ballast with a bracket I think u really should take it off so you can find a decent place to place them. ANY Ways have fun with the install and post PICS
