Driving back from Delaware today, I notice my airbag starting to show again. Then started thinking what they would have to do if it went off.

Would they have to replace the whole top of the dash? If that's the case, couldn't they design it another way?

they probably have to replace that under warranty because it could be a safety issue

Yep, the dashboard would have to be replaced along with anything else that got in the way of the airbag. I had two airbags deploy in my Windstar van several years ago because I hit a deer. The exterior damage was about $1500 and the interior damage caused by the airbags was a bit over $2000.

The side airbags rip thru the seats and the curtain air bags rip thru headliner.

Yeah, I didn't think about that. I was just thinking about all the damage the passenger side would cause when it goes off. I guess with all that damage inside form JUST the airbags, I don't think I would want to survive. :wink: On the other hand I guess that's why my insurance didn't go up when I got the TL from an Altima.
