Does anyone know if Hamilton honda is still doing the timing belt special? I looked at there website and it says on hondas only

They told me it was no longer valid when I called back in May. There's a Honda Dealership in Bmore that offers the same service. Check the Mid Atlantic regional section.

Just an update:
I called Hamilton Honda today and the price for the TL TB service is $587 pre tax and including:
-timing belt
-water pump
-drive belt
-TB tensioner
-labor

The TB tensioner is $90 and included in the price above. They will work on TLs. For Honda cars, the special price til 12/31 is $389. The price as above is their regular price (for the TL).

I want to see if they can get an TB idler pulley, TB adjuster, and thermostat, along with a drive belt adjuster. If not, I have time to get them via mail.

I made an appointment for 1/13/14 for my TL

Wow $587! Thats a great price isnt it? I am originally from NJ, depending on what the price is here it would almost be worth going to visit family and have it done while I am there, when I am due for it.

The $587 price only comes to about $100 more than the original special so its still worth it. I had mine done there back in December 2010,

Just got mine done today at Anderson Honda in Cockeysville Md (just outside the Baltimore beltway on north side) for $497. Worth the drive as even the local indy in town wanted over $1k

I did Anderson Honda outside of Baltimore over the summer as well. Well worth the trip and savings. With the money I saved, we got a nice hotel room near the bay and had a great weekend, although there was some driving back and forth to the dealership involved.

If you need, ask if they have a loaner. They didn't for me, but I was able to rent from the Hertz down the street where they have a corporate account for $30 a day. They drove me to the Hertz, etc, so having a car for the day for an extra $30 was well worth it for me.

BTW I live in NJ just outside of NYC, and was initially planning on heading to South NJ for the change until I found out they weren't doing it any longer.

I got mine done at Willis Honda in Burlington they didn't care at all that it was Acura. They even did a tranny flush for 90

I just called Hamilton and the price for the timing belt is now up to $650 + $98 for the tensioner. I politely asked if I could speak to the service manager since I planned to get some additional work done and hoped to negotiate the total price but the service advisor came back and said she was told "the price is the price".

I'm going to call around some to see the price at other Honda dealers.

About Hamilton Honda, you may have to wait just a bit until they have another special- it's likely, but your timing has to be good. I paid $587 with the tensioner included, so that old price of $387 may never be seen again. I'm glad I got mine done when I did. Their service was excellent.

Yesterday the website said the price was $549.98 and then the service advisor added $100 to the price (the Acura surcharge) and another $100 for the tensioner, bringing it up to $750. I even said, "I heard last month that people had paid only $587 for the same service" and her only reply was, "we have the best price around for the timing belt service."

This is the crap that makes me hate getting my car serviced; with most dealers or mechanics, it's like playing a game of roulette when asking for a quote - and then it's another game of roulette when you actually take the car it. I wish it were more like any other commodity where they gave a consistent, fair price.

I called this morning and asked to speak to the service manager. He sounded like a very nice guy and confirmed the price is again $587 starting today. I told him the other work I needed done and he was going to have someone write up a quote and call me back.

After getting the quote, my dilemma will likely be to either go with Hamilton Honda (for prices much cheaper than the Acura dealer) or to go with an independent mechanic working out of his garage for even cheaper prices. The mechanic is a forum member and sounded like a great guy when I spoke to him, but I feel that getting the work done at a Honda or Acura dealer is a little 'safer' - but I could be wrong - and also he is much further from me and I would need to leave the car overnight (so about 6 hours of driving back & forth & back & forth).

I will vouch for them, as many have here. An independent shop is fine, but I would want to know that they have done plenty of Honda V6 timing belts. That's why I went with them (Hamilton has done plenty of these jobs, so it becomes routine). Look at it this way: $587 (with tensioner) is wayyyyy cheaper than at an Acura dealership. Plus, this is generally a once in a lifetime ownership cost to keep your car running, so it's clearly worth it.

While you're having the work done, I would rec. a new TB idler and adjuster as well as a new drive belt adjuster assembly. I had the thermostat done since the coolant was drained. I paid $311 shipped for the additional parts from OEMAcuraparts.com (I think I posted that info in another thread). I paid $105 for the new thermostat installation and $62 for the other parts installation (I was told they don't remove the idler or adjuster when doing the TB, so they charge for it).

It's a decent sum of cash, but in the grand scheme of things, it's chump change that gives you the freedom not to make car payments for quite a while and keep your car running for the long haul. Do it once, pay for it, then drive on with a big smile, knowing you didn't pay a big down payment on new and now have to make payments for the next 4-5 years..

Thanks Turbonut-- I was concerned because it's going on 10 years with the original belt. Wifey barely drives the car though <=8k per year.. We are the second owners and bought it with 19k on it in 2007. If it is ok to go thirteen or so years on the original, I'll wait until around 100k and hope Hamilton still has this great deal going on.

ouchh..I'm sure glad mine is under 60k mile. Got 3 more yrs or so before i have to change my TB.

If all you need is your timing belt, it's a good deal - but if you need other stuff done too, the prices aren't so good. I needed several things serviced, so I got quotes from Hamilton Honda and other local Acura & Honda dealers, and they were all outrageous - then I got a quote from an independent Honda/Acura mechanic in Clifton, NJ and he did all the work for half the price than Hamilton Honda quoted. Here's all the work I had done:

- Replaced Timing Belt, Tensioner, Tensioner Pulley, Idler Pulley, Water Pump, and Drive Belt
- Changed Coolant
- Replaced Radiator Hoses
- Replaced Spark Plugs
- Adjusted Valves and Replaced Valve Cover Gaskets
- Replaced Compliance Bushings
- Replaced Front & Side Engine Mounts
- Changed Brake Fluid
- Cleaned Throttle Body and Intake Manifold
- Replaced Cabin Filter
