My 07 MRP Type S goin in Monday to Montclair Acura for the 105k service.TB,WP,drive belt,pulley,tensioner if needed and doing the plugs,oil change and the PITA fuel cap message remedy lol.I asked about the valve adjustment tech said we will see if its needed,is that normal?Also got the service records for my car was done at Precision Acura all sched maintenance at 35k then at 94k.Want to do trans service but tech was sketchy about it saying if it was never changed leave it alone,my car has 116k on it and the trans shifts normal.There are no trans service records.I here things from definatly change it to no,if there isn't an issue leave it alone it might do more harm than good.What is the right thing to do here? Thnks any advise from you guys who went thru this transmission service dilemma is appreciated!

what do you mean by trans service? most just do drain and refill of the fluid.

It's your car- you have the right to request specific service even if they don't want to do it. Personally at that mileage, I'd get the tranny fluid drained and filled. Otherwise, take your business elsewhere if they don't want to/ refuse to do it. As for the valve adjustment, the owners manual says to adjust at 105K 'if noisy'. There's a lot of conjecture on this point on Azine, so you can read up on that if you want.

Def. do the tensioner, and add in the front main seal too! If it leaks, it literally the same amount of labor to get to the timing belt to fix that gasket.

Def. do the valve adjustment, folks end up getting a ton of misfires around 130K if they have never done one.

Do the transmission fluid service, it needs to be changed every 15-30K miles! The trans holds about 9 quarts of fluid, but only 3 can be drained and refiled at a time normally. Some dealerships now use fluid exchange machines which connect to a transmission line. The car pumps the old fluid into the machine, and the new machine pumps in the appropriate amount of fluid at the proper pressure into the transmission replacing almost 100% of the fluid.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT POWER FLUSH/CLEAN the transmission, this can severely damage the transmission! The only thing that should be going inside is Automatic Transmission fluid.

Make sure you check out all the hoses and that the coolant is drained from the engine block as well as the radiator. Check your lower compliance bushings on the front suspension and make sure your alignment is good.

Thanks all for the excellent advise.Will do on the trans service and valve adjustment! Is it a good idea to do the 3rd n 4th gear pressure switches on the 07-08 upgraded tranny?

Valve adjustment can be skip at 105k serivces, my old accord was at 150k with no miss firing or make tremendous noise at all without valve adjustment. Even Eric the car guy agree in his video of diy valve adjustment.

The tech at my local dealerhship when I enquired about my MDX going to 150K before changing the belt and doing a valve adjustment. He said the limit is around 130K for the first valve adjustment for most J-series engines before you start to run into trouble since the exhaust valves tighten and the intake ones loosen. Either way, I'm just passing on info that I'm aware of

UPDATE..Did the following..TB,WP,all drive belts,pulley and tensioner.Spark plugs,oil change,3x trans service as dealer had car for two days.Valve adjustment was not needed at this time.Had evap purge valve changed under goodwill 50/50 split which I didn't mind.They went over the car no leaks,suspension and brakes 100%.$ 1624.00.If your in north jersey I highly recommend Montclair Acura.Really great treatment and Jason the Serv.Manager was outstanding.Just thought I'd pass that along.BTW the trans shifts like butter,what a difference!
