G-091: Benefits of using a D2C bulb?

What are the benefits of using a D2C over a D2S. I know its a hybrid bulb but would I get better light output or better cut off?

My OEM Hids have a so so cut off but not razor blade sharp like TSXs or other TLs on the road. Also my light output is a dim blue. I have a 150,000 miles on the car so I'm assuming the HIDs are losing its lumen's. I bought some bulbs from ebay. Philips 85122 but they were only blue the first few seconds at start up then they turned to this yellow color. I know 4300 is a little yellow but amount of light that was displayed on the ground was very poor, cars with halogen light appeared to have the same output so I put the stock oems back in. Any suggestions? I've been thinking about Kaixen(sp?) but I've read some people don't like the output.

d2s and d2c are the same but when u put the d2c bulb in the d2r lens u get a huge glare because the bulb really belongs in a d2s projector

There isn't really a difference between D2S and D2C based bulbs. The D2C's were made to be a universal fit between D2S and D2R bulbs. I really wouldn't suggest using a bulb that is a universal fit for "S" and "R" though.

kaixen bulbs from Excelerate are great!
stock color bulb rating is 4300k = kelvin scale where 3000 is yellow 9000 purple

kaixen comes in 5000 with more blue but good white on road, and 6000 even more blue with less white
5000 good for most drivers

The HID bulbs are special- dont use anything else!!!! halogen bulbs do NOT go in a TL

HID bulbs last about 3000 hours, the usual death warning is a flicker or a pink tint at light startup. They do get dimmer with age too

New bulbs (alway replace in pairs to keep output equal) must be handled wearing rubber/latex gloves
They also need about 100 hours of use- burn in -time to get full brightness and color

Stock new bulbs

Color = 4300k
Intensity = 3200 lumens

Stock bulbs after a couple of years

Color = 4800k~5000k
Intensity= 2600~2800 lumens

I am not sure about other after market bulbs but usually higher color temp means lower intensity. For instance

Philips Ultinon bulbs new

Color = 6000k
Intensity = 2400 lumens

Your cut off isnt sharp because stock 04-05 TSX have clear lenses for projectors where as stock TLs have fresnel lenses.

If you want sharper cut off then you would need to replace the projector lenses with ZKW or Replica ZKW lenses.

If you want better/bright light then you want a new set of Phillips 85122+ bulbs rather than regular 85122 bulbs.

85122 bulbs and stock Osram 66404 bulbs colorshift and loose their intensity over their life, new they are rated at 3200 lumens and after color shift they are anywhere from 2600~2800 lumens.

the 85122+ are rated to be 3400 lumens when new and tend not to color shift.

Another thing, if you are looking for color then these are not for you , since they are rated at 4200k and the color would stay like that for good.

I don't really care about being the car with the blue headlight, it was just with those 85122 my bulbs looked like halogens. They were dull and yellow, my wife's Corolla with Silverstar headlights halogens put out more light and were a bright white vs yellow.

I've been reading about the ZKW lenses and I'm really contemplating on getting them.

Ok, just ordered some ZKW lenses. Now I need bulbs. Do I get the 85122+ or the 85122CM. The CM looked like its 5000K what are the 85122+?

I absolutely hated the 85122 because it was so damn yellow and not bright.

I want a bright white light.

I believe our cars use osram bulbs... they put out a bluer hue at 4300k than the philips ones do.

Here is an auction for brand new pair of 85122+.

If you want bright then you want 85122+, they are as yellow as when the osram (OEM D2S bulbs) are when the car first comes out of production i.e. when the bulbs havent colorshifted.

If you want white then the best bet is to stick with the colorshifted current osram bulbs.
