The Accord fog install DIY is done.

I'm just waiting for a moderator to edit my post =P

Hey there guitarplayer16, I bought the same fog kit that you bought from Ebay and received the package today from UPS. But when I opened it first thing I saw was this:

Where and when is this washer use? Why did they provide me with another washer? Did this happened to you?

As I dig deeper into the box, I noticed something weird about the wiring harness. There was this gooey yellow color inside the wiring harness. It looks like this:

That gooey stuff was stuck to these three pieces.

Do you have any idea what it is and why they did this? Or is it defective? Please help me out. Thank you in advance.

So it's just basically plug and play? Do I have to add anything to the gooey thing while connecting the connectors?

To be honest, I took a toothpick and tried to take most of the stuff out lol.

Should be plug and play, except I took some out because I thought there was way too much inside lol.

When I do this mod, can you please help guide me through the wiring? I want to wire in a way that the switch is independent rather than connecting it to the parking light since I will be using HIDs. Thank you.

that paste stuff is there for protecting the connection within the socket, but you'll be fine tho.

Sorry man, it's really different.

We don't even use half the wires on the harnesses.

Ok so i did my fog lights to my 06 tl and i had to say they came out sweet....but my question is...Is there a way to make them light up straight and not to the sides while still making them flush with the bumper..

this is how mines came out..

Nice job, Joelito2983!

You did a great job - looks flush =)

Sadly, it's the way the bumper curves so you can't really make them straighter than they already are. Yours are considered pretty good - you should see other's installs that point WAY outwards.

Just a suggestion to clean it up - trim your lower grill a little more in the opening, because it looks like you didn't trim enough so it's bending against the fogs.

Hold on - those metal shrouds?

I think you're talking about the glare shield (if you have OEMs).

Don't take them out LOL

Ah, the only real solution is to get projectors retrofitted inside.

The fogs weren't meant for our cars, so the output isn't that great. It's more of an aesthetic mod.

What if i use a spacer from a bike chain in the inside screw that holds the fog and the housing..it would give me a atleast a 1 or 2 feet of lightin to the center of the bumber????

You can try bringing the the outer edge of the fogs out, so the fogs can point more inwards. Just some more trimming may be required and custom mount it together with jbweld or something (I <3 jbweld).

You can really try something creative just to get that outside edge pointing inwards more.

You're taking the extra mile but it'll be worth it having your fogs face inwards.

You're not bring the fog housing out; they look perfect exactly where they are.

You're trying to bring the outside edge of the actual fog assembly to point inwards

If I was to have control of the switch instead of tapping it into the parking lights, how different would the wiring be? What are the steps that I have to follow?

You can have control of the switch. Tapping it in the parking light is for power. What is that you are trying to accomplish?

I am planning to have control of the switch, but since I am using HIDs for the fogs, I don't want to tap it into the parking lights. Is there another option where I can tap into so that my HIDs won't blink every time I hit the open/close button on the keyless entry remote?

The best option for HIDs is tapping into the low beam fuse.

Most people with HIDs opt for that method.

That way, your fogs won't flicker with your parking lights because they're not associated.

You can have the switch at the OFF position , and turn off the parking light switch.

Does this means that I would have to turn the parking lights on to activate the switch? Then turn it off if I want to turn off the fogs? Also is there another option?

Is it possible to tap the green wire for the window wipers? So its always on, you just have to remember to turn them off?

Yes, sorta.
Regardless if your parking lights are set to on, they blink automatically when you lock/unlock

In conclusion:

WHILE DRIVING:
If the parking lights are off, and your switch is set to on: they fogs won't light.
If the parking lights are off, and your switch is set off: the fogs won't light.
If the parking lights are on, and your switch is on: your fogs WILL light.
If your parking lights are on, and your switch is set off: your fogs won't light.

LOCKING/UNLOCKING:
If you lock/unlock your car with the switch set on: your fogs will flicker.

If you lock/unlock your car with the switch set off: your fogs won't flicker.

People who have HIDs and wired them to the parking lights usually set the switch to off when they leave their car (so it won't blink).

I would skip the parking light method altogether, and use the method I mentioned in my post above.

Sometimes, I just want to turn my fogs on by itself, will I be able to do this if I do "add a fuse" method? Because if I tap it into my low beams, does that mean I have to turn on my low beams and won't have the option to turn on the fogs by itself?

Ah, so you want to have independant fogs...

In that case, you won't need that add-a-circuit thing, and all you need to do is wire the wire instead to something with constant power.

That way constant power = you can always turn on or off your fogs using your switch.

I decided to take some pictures of the switch harness, fog harness, and the two relays and labeled them with numbers. From the pictures, can you please tell me which connectors you didn't use? Also which one you had to splice and where did you splice it. Which connectors did you connect with what? Also where did you used the taps, butt connectors, and inline fuse? Thank you so much.

UPDATE:

The wiring method I posted does NOT illuminate your foglight switch.
The indicator works perfectly, but the actual illumination of the whole switch does not work.

Today, after some researching, I was able to get the actual switch to illuminate. I did it in like 5 minutes in a parking lot, too.

I'll have a DIY for this added tommorow.

Okay, here's how you illuminate your fog light switch:

Materials: 2 Self stripping splice connectors or t-tap connectors.

Really easy to do; should take like 5 minutes.
If I wanted to, I could just tell you this:
Red wire from the fog switch taps into red wire on vsa switch.
Red/black wire from the fog switch taps into the red/black wire on vsa switch.

If I did that, many "new-to-wiring" people would get confused, so here's the detailed DIY:

1. Remove Lower Dash Panel. I had to remove a plastic screw at the bottom right. Then tug really hard towards you.

2. Unplug all connectors. (Trunk, mirror, accord fog, vsa, and the one on the very right side. Place dash panel aside.

3. Take your accord fog harness, and connected to the switch connector, you'll see a red wire, and a red/black wire.

4. Cut these wires about 6" away from the switch connector.

Your switch harness should look like this now:

5. Now, you connect the red wire from your switch connector to the red wire on the VSA switch. Use your splice connector or T-Tap.

6. Now, you connect the red/black wire from your switch connector to the red/black wire on the VSA switch. Use your splice connector or T-Tap.

You should have this:

7. Put everything back together and test it out! Mine worked first time I did it.
