Installed mine tonight. I had difficulties finding the green wire.

I'm just gonna tap into the Green wire on the far right bundle.

This seems to be the issue. 2006 TL's have more than 1 Green wire in the bundle noted in Step 6. Going to tap into the Green wire in the bundle on the far right.

nice job, can you still turn on your lower fogs without turning on your parking lights?

I just did it today, not hard at all thanks to the pics. Coulda been a little more specific on the instructions though- In the first step theres 2 blue/white wires, you have to use the dark blue/white... and when I tapped into the wire loom to get the green power wire there was like 3 green wires, but after reading through a few pages I figured out I tapped into it to the left of the brake MC instead of the right where it goes up under the wiper cowl cover- thats where the green wire is. So it didnt work at first- my VSA light came on cause the green wire I tapped was for it I found out. It worked when I touched it to the battery though so I just need to tap into the correct green wire. Thanks for the writeup- I cant wait to have it working right

The right way to do it so the fog lights light up at 75% of their normal brightness.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=drl

Only problem is, autobarn.com no longer sells this module, so you'd have to scout the internet for it or an equivalent.

What connection are you talking about specifically? In general tap ins are fine if its connecting the same wires etc I just prefer soldering my connections.

Fuses are for safety and to protect your cars wiring in the event that the foglights are overloaded or a connection is bridged somewhere. So no it's not necessary but yes you should install one its only a couple dollars anyways.

There's a black, pale green, green/white, pale yellow, yellow, and red/white

Also having trouble running the wire through the firewall. lol

You run the wire through this part right?

I can't seem to find where it goes through on the other side.

Also find this blue wire that runs closer, but im having trouble trying to remove that rubber seal.

Humm not sure about the wire. Looks like you have a 2005 and I referenced the 04 service manual when I did this project and I have a 2006. I highly doubt it would be difference in 05 and go back to blue/white in 2006

that appears to be the right connector since it taking out made the headlight unit not function. i have it wired thru the firewall finally and connected to the relay. I stripped 3 of the 6 wires (got exhausted) on the combination switch and tapped the wire one at a time to see which one controlled the fogs. 2 of the wires kept the foglights off no matter what, 1 of the wires turned on the fogs whenever the headlights turned on. I'll try tapping the other 3 wires next, I'm too exhausted. lol

No there is no way to make it function unless you run wires directly to the bulb in the cluster.

I bypassed the oem foglight switch because it stopped working after I tried doing to full control of fog lights mod. There is a a second switch set up now with a relay tapped into the fog light (directly into to the bulb wires) under the hood after the fog light control/relay.
When I turn on the factory fog light switch I still get an indicator light on the dash.I want to tap into that from the oem switch since the relay no longer gets power to it and have it turn on some LED strips. Is it the same wire color for a 06 TL? Would I cut the blue/white wire and run it to the ground of my LED strips and run the power of the strips to the battery + or am I way off course?

Yes that would work. The blue/white wire provides a ground when active but I would only use it to power a relay but yes you can easily control lights with it. I use it to turn on my LEDs not my foglights these days

04 TL With 07 Bumper and Fogs

I finally finished up my install for my 04 TL with 07 Bumper and fogs, thanks to Roger555 for creating this DIY and others for sharing their experiences. I have made it so that the upper and lower fogs comes on independently but did a few things different. I would recommend anyone attempting this mod should read as many post possible in this thread. One thing I did wrong from the beginning was assume the wire to be cut behind the steering wheel was in the clip right behind the headlight stalk but it is actually located behind the ignitition side of the steering wheel. One way to know you have pulled the right clip is to attempt to turn on the headlight of fog lights. If they don't come on then you have pulled the right clip.

This is what the clip and wire you are supposed to disconnect and cut looks like.

I attempted to run the wire through the firewall but the circular access point in the middle of the car was a PITA. You can access it better by removing the ACCELERATOR SENSOR by removing one bolt all the way to the left of the sensor.

Here is a picture of the circular firewall access point

I ran the wire the same way as the hood release latch. There is actually a second hole on the right side of the car toward the back of the fender that you can puncture with a screw driver and just push your wire through, make sure to put some electrical tape around the screwdriver as the hole is adjacent to some other wires. You do have to take the wheel and the wheel well cover off to run the wire. The first hole to get you wire into the wheel well is directly under the Right fender garnish toward the back. Here is a picture of the first hole.

Then run the wire through the hole on the side of the car.

Just like Joe Foe from Buffalo Instead of hacking up the wire for the wipers I ran another wire from the blue/red wire back into the same hole I used earlier and used a add-a-fuse that I got from my local parts store. I plugged the add-a-fuse into position 12 in the Fuse block by the pedals. When I looked at the diagram it seemed this fuse was not being used. So it provided me with a fuse to use. Here is a picture of the setup.

This fuse does not let the fogs stay on once the key is not in the second position in the ignition. I guess I could have used a fuse in the engine bay but was not sure which one to add-a-fuse to that would mimic this behavior.

Here is my outcome. I think I might rewire the lower fogs to come on independently of the upper fogs. I used some Nokya hyper yellow halogens for the upper fogs and 3000K HID kit for lower. I am going to purchase some yellow film for the lower as it is not as yellow as I would like it to be.

My brother ran a diode from the fog light fuse to his high beam fuse (I think) and was able to turn his fogs on with his high beams in his new Silverado, I'm assuming we can't do that with our TLs? Just looking for a simple way to run the fogs with the high beams so I don't burn out the ballast on the HID fogs from switching high to low beam and back.

I have read the the WHOLE thread, but am not yet certain that there is no change in the wire colors AND locations for the '07/'08. I am aware of the relocation of the Fog Relay in the '07/'08 models, but not sure exactly where it's located.

I am more than aggravate right now. I had a how work up with Serivce Manual Pics and all... nothing posted here except a bunch of blank post.

I'll try to explain in words.

07-08 owners should be able to follow the wiring diagram previous pictured, except the blue/red wire would have to be ran to #11 of the fuse box. Please continue to read all below...

07-08 Acura TL Manual
Pg 176 has the exact same diagram as above, except the foglight relay is listed as "Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box" .... which means it's part of the fuse box under the kick panel (not under the hood)

According to Page 22-8
If you are looking at the fuse box (with the whole cover off) above the three rows of little fuses is a larger row with 4 relay's. The fog light relay is the 4th one (from left to right.) I would image you would pull the pig tail out of the back of the fuse box directly behind the relay.

According to the post by donnieb83 in the steering colomn there is a plug "2M" Disconnect this, and in cavity 5 their should be a dark blue wire, that's the one you cut, just as in the last diagram picture on this thread.

As far as where do extend the blue/red wire from the fog light relay (which is conveniently under the kick panel) you can run it to fuse #11, which just happens to be the fuse for the wiper. You could also run it to #32 which is a Aux Accs.

I wish I could have posted pictures on here. SORRY

Hope this makes sense. Of course you'll need to look at the already pic'd diagram from the 04-06 and just trust me that the relay is inside the cabin, under the kick panel.

For pics from the 07-08 manual, email me auman_jonathan@hotmail.com
