fuel system cleaner offered by sears

I was offered to have this fuel system cleaner by Sears when I asked for an oil change. Just wondering if anyone knew what I was talking about, and if it's good or not. Couldn't remember the brand name and I have been looking online and no luck yet. Thanks

Now that thats out of the way.......... I am not sure what Sears offered you but from my experience most Oil change places that offer some sort of FI cleaner is just something over the counter you can buy at your local UhOh Zone.

With that in mind, I always bypass the offered service in favor of using Sea Foam (or GM Top End Cleaner.... essentially the same stuff) and doing it myself.

I recommend you research that product There is a great thread floating around here somewhere.

today I tried Seafoam in an aerosol spray can - with straw- labeled as Deep Creep
Made it really easy to do small amounts at a time, will have to add it to the DIY

That stuff is excellent, I've been using it to clean throttle bodies for a while now.

I've use Chevron Tectron, it's results are proven with the intake valve testing done by BMW in Germany. Great stuff, just add to a full tank of gas. Most autostores carry it.

The closest two Acura dealers used to use that aerosol system where the can is connected to a valve and hose directly to the fuel rail to inject their detergent cleaner into the injectors virtually directly. Some mechanics swear by it's results in clearing out clogged injectors with bad spray patterns.

Champion (same as the sparkplugs) sold a similar system in the mid-90's in autopart stores (it came with adapters for various adaptors for different fuel injection systems).

yea i know about that system as well. they recently did a drip system cleaning for carbon build up and i did the throttle cleaning because 200 for a throttle body cleaning sounded crazy to me... when i can take it off and clean it myself in about an hour.

Wow! $200 for a throttle body cleaning. Amazing what dealerships charge for that.

You can remove the stock intake snout to the TB assembly, and spray TB /carb cleaner on both sides of the metal plate- a soft toothbrush or rag may be needed.

The seafoam in a spray- Deep Creep- is excellent for getting small drip type amounts added to the intake. Then you can spray some at the TB while engine running- to get the throat clean, and shoot it in vac port as slow as desired.
