Front License Plate held on by Magnets

After 2 years, I finally got around to installing my temp license plate mount which is held on my magnets. I tested this going 55mph before even glueing the magnets to the bumper and front plate holder and it held easily..

The reason I did this is because I get tickets when parked on the street in Chicago for no front plate. I've even put my flashers on once to run into an ATM and was back 2 mins later with a ticket.

The problem isn't driving without a front plate, it's parking on a public street without one. I have never had a front plate in 15 years of driving, so this is as close as I plan on getting one.

I basically used: qty: 6 - 3/4inch by 1/4inch Disk Neodymium N48 Magnets, gorilla glue & front plate adapter

Started by cutting the 2 tabs in the back so the plate fits flush against the bumper.

I then used 3 magnets holding the plate to the bumper and 3 magnets on the inside of the bumper.. Once everythings lined up, i glued the magnets on the inside of the front bumper.

I let it dry overnight like this so the glue sets and hold the magnets in position for good. I'll then glue the other magnets to the plate adapter and install my new plate.. I'll then be able to just pop the Plate & Adapter on & off whenever I park on the street.

I didn't think of that. I guess i could do that too if i think it looks that bad. Like i mentioned in that first post, I don't plan on driving with it on much. I plan to just toss it on when i park on the street.

I would have gone with the show n go plate, but i plan on lowering the car this fall/winter, and i don't want clearance issues when the plates hidden under the bumper.

This now saves me from putting my plate in my front window.

For the record, the person before me had a plate in the front although it is not necessary here. Over the years the front plate holder has left corner indents in the bumper in the top corners... people probably backing into the plate holder and crap like that. I wish that wasn't the case because it bothers me every time I look at the car. YMMV, just throwing that out there about having a plate when parking haha

I have thought of that..and that would suck.. I sometimes see cars with that ugly bumper bully rubber pad coming out of their trunk. Need to come up with a way to use the tow hook as a shield..lol

Pretty impressive idea now that I see the pictures.

Just make sure no one sees you easily placing/removing it

My whole thing is if they really wanted to steal a license plate, a screwdriver would do the trick..
