I wanted to buy the whole aspec kit for my car, but I am going to buy some tires and just cant justify buying both at the same time, especially around the holidays. My Type S is also ASM so I would have to get most of the kit repainted.

My question is would it look silly to just get the Front Aspec lip for my Type S? I honestly cant tell much of a difference between my type S side skirts and rear compared to the aspec side skirts and rear.

I tried searching for pictures of anyone doing this, but didnt have much luck. Any opinion/help would be great!

Oh, and I plan on getting color matched ASM mud guards as well,

I would just buy the tires for now and hold off on until you have the funds to buy the whole kit. Since you are in NY, I would wait until the winter is over before installing the kit anyway, especially if you're saying it will need to be repainted. It will also be cheaper for you to buy the kit as a whole, than buying the kit in separate pieces.

Mud guards will NOT fit when the aspec kit is installed. So don't waste your money on buying them.

this topic has been covered ad nauseum.

my opinion? do the whole kit or do nothing. they all tie in with one another. also, no mud guards with aspec lip kit. can't install them.

Yea I searched and found a lot of stuff about base TLs but not much on the Type S.

Here are just a few of my thoughts:

-The front part of the aspec is the only part I can really tell a big difference.
- I am planning on repainting the front bumper and hood because of rock chips, so it probably wouldn't cost a lot extra to get the front lip painted.
- I really like the look of the color matched mud guards, and think they would compliment the front a-spec lip well.

Im not trying to beat a dead horse...really I was just looking for someone with a Type S that did just the front lip so I could see a picture of it.

after a few days, you will notice that the lines from the front lip will not match up with the stock side skirts too well. It will be an eyesore, needless to say.

Some people like it, some don't. I have exactly what you're talking about on a base TL (flaps and aspec front lip) and I like it. You can always get the lip to start. Drive with it a couple weeks and decide if you want the flaps or the rest of the kit.

Just piece together the kit when you can. Nothing wrong with that.

I have just the front TL-S A-Spec lip on my 08 base. I just got it a couple months ago. Its a bit of an eyesore at the right angle(as in it doesn't match the base side skirts). My issue is that my color, CBP is discontinued and I haven't been able to find the rest of the kit in that color, so ill eventually just have to pull the trigger and order the rest of the kit in a different color and have it painted CBP, unless I end up finding used ones or something. I think it would look ok on a TL-S because the side skirts are different than the base and the lines might flow a bit better.

I would say just save up the money and get the whole thing all at once from the A-Spec kit group buy here: https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/spec-kit-group-buy-under-%24750-shipped-802311/ . Less than $750 shipped.

the type s aspec lip is much more aggressive than the base aspec lips. if you have just the type-s front lip it would kinda of look out of place wihtout the rest of the kit to compliment it. for the base front aspec lips you can get away with doing that one alone without the rest of the kit. these lips are a little more subtle and not quite as aggressive looking as the type-s lip.

certainly you can go with whatever set up you want...it is your car afterall.

I've got to say getting the Aspec kit was the best mod I've done. It really stands out from a stock TL.

If you are planning on going with the kit, getting mud flaps is waste of money, bc they won't fit on the aspec kit w/o major modification to mud flaps

Matt, I actually put the Base TL Aspec front lip on my Type S. If you'd like to see it, check out My Garage. The link is the name of my car at the top of my signature.

I'm one of the few that does not like the Type S Aspec Lip. For me, this was the best of both worlds.
