Hey guys, so I needed to do an engine swap. Before the swap, the AC was ice cold. After the swap, the AC stopped engaging. Nothing would happen pressing the AC button and only the fan was working. So according to the shop that did the swap, I needed to recharge the system. There are no leaks.
So my question is, does an ac system lose the freon during a swap and if that's the case shouldn't the shop include a recharge in the price of the swap?

Depends on the shop. First question you should have asked is why do you need a recharge after the swap? And if they removed any AC lines to help navigate the engine out.

The first thing on my mind - Ac compressor plug-in - I thing there should be the seperate one. Maybe they missed 🤷

I assume AC lines get disconnected then reconnected to the new engine. So it sounds like the freon does get lost unless there's a way to shut it off. If my ac was working before, then I shouldn't get a separate bill for the recharge. What do you guys think?

I didn't ask those questions because I thought there was a leak in the system. So I returned to have them check for leaks and there was none. Obviously, they needed to recharge the system in order to check for leaks. However, now I'm getting billed for a recharge when in my opinion it shouldve been included in the first place.

If they purged the system during the swap, then yes, I would have assumed they would have recharged it as part of the process and original bill. However, check your contract or work order to see what was and was not called out as part of the job.
