Man if I EVER find the time to tackle that whole interior LED backlight project these other guys are attempting, I would be ecstatic!! That is the biggest LED modding to date, wow!

Dayumm, Rock. What a way to steal our thunder. With the puddle lights, blue sills and headrest monitors---you're killing me! Is that an old pic, or have you still not gotten that nasty green mirror light out yet?
Stay tuned---DeathMetal will be posting the latest in our series of DIYs sometime today. He has come pretty far.
My project has been at a standstill due to weather and other commitments, but I have some stuff in the works and hope to be completed soon. I still need to do some tweaking until it's perfect.
In case anyone doesn't know, Rockyfeller's thread here was the inspiration for many of my mods. Very creative guy--check him out:

It's pretty simple to do the footwell. Just run the wires inside your armrest glove box. There's a courtesy light inside and just tap the wire inside there. That's how I did it on my TL and also on my RL.

With the right tools, shouldnt take you like 2 hours.

Holy crap, I never even THOUGHT of the arm rest box! That makes this whole project do-able now. Thanks KB1Spec, that is a great idea.

Using the fuse box and some 18 gauge wire is more efficient because it allows you to suck more power without blowing up the electrics but its your decision.

How do you wire them to your courtesy light?

Yeah, when I got in there tonight I noticed that light was just on with the park lights I think. I was looking for more of "when the door is open" on sort of thing.

You need to find the source for the courtesy light wire and tap the wire.

UNLESS you want it constantly on while at night driving. Depending on what type of LED strips. The one I have are not very bright nor very dim. It's good enough where you are not being obstructed by glares

Thats why im doing mine wired strait to the fuse for the parking lights, so they come on with the headlights. But they are on a switch so you can override that if need be.

Nice! does anyone know how to make the red Type-S floor lighting brigher & more red? Is it just a bulb change or full strip installation like this one here?

Do a search on the forum. There is a sponsor sale section that are selling the illuminated door sill there.

If you take the lower dash out, you can get to the light. Twist and pull it off, then being very careful you can pull the cover off the bulb. The cover is very light white, not clear. So now you have an uncovered bulb, making it a little brighter.

They're difficult to find. Keep a close eye on the Black Market. I got lucky and found someone who wanted to sell their set of red door sills.

I installed brighter footwell LED strip lighting to operate only when the doors opened for my wife's TL. I tapped into a live wire behind the glove box suggested by another post. Wife thinks it looks great! http://www.sbadesign.com/acurazine/sills/index.html

It was well worth the time, effort and it was not very expensive! Do it! What is the problem? Most posters wanted the lights on most of the time but I only wanted extra lights when opening up the doors.

Maybe have a stereo/alarm shop do it for you. You provide them the parts.

3M double sided tape---get it from any auto parts or hardware store. The lip is actually made of a fabric type underside right on the front of the rear seat cushion (if that makes sense). You could also go with underneath the front seats, but you have to be more careful how you route your wires from this location.
I have found the adhesive backing on the strips themselves is not sufficient to hold them in place--even on the hard plastic panels in the front. I've had no trouble since using the 3M tape.
