Fair Price For 2007 TL-S

Hey guys,

I have owned my 2007 Type S for about 4 years now. It is an awesome car, but my family is once again growing and multiple car seats and trying to keep the car clean from mud/feet on the back of seats stresses me out. I used to lurk these forums a ton when I first got it, but have been out of the loop for awhile.

I just was curious what a fair ask would be for my car. It is a 2007 with 70K miles, WDP Automatic Transmission. Interior is in good shape, no dash crack, no rips/tears in seats. No accidents, no issues, records/receipts kept for maintenance. Due for a timing belt/water pump based on the years, which I have been looking into having done prior to the sale. I have an offer at 10.5, but that seems a little low to me. Any help appreciated.

Depending upon your location $10,500 sounds pretty much in the ball park; if you had a 6MT model you would be able to fetch thousands more.

Timing belt, water pump alone can run 800-1500 depending on where you take it. WDP, Auto isn't a rare combo but the mileage is nice! Is it completely stock? I could see you getting around $11,500-$12,000 to the right buyer. Maybe fetch a little more if you complete the TB/WP service prior to sale.

All stock except it has the A-Spec rims. Also tint all around, but completely stock otherwise. I don't have the original set of waffles sadly

$11.5k-$12.5k depend on the buyer, the TB will be the deal breaker for buyer since it show you treat the vehicle very well.

I think the overall condition of the car will show how well you took car of the car. The TB service isn't vital but it will affect the asking price.

Yeah, am looking to get it done as we speak. I was just always under the assumption it was 105K miles. Only just found out that it was 105k or 7 years.

Agreed, as long as it doesn't break before I can get it serviced next week I don't think it is that big of a deal. I have kept a log of all service done, oil changes, tire rotations, brake/rotors etc. including receipts. That should help paint a decent picture that the car hasn't been neglected. It definitely was my mistake not to realize that the timing belt had a yearly constraint in addition to the mileage.

There is no official Honda/Acura documentation which states 7-years for the 3G and later TLs.

FWIW, I'm thinking pretty much anything over $11,000 will be a stretch.

Alright, a bit lower than I was hoping, especially if I am going to put $1200 into the timing belt/water pump/oil change in the next week. Was hoping with this low of miles it would get a bit higher price, I'll probably just hold onto it for another year with the title paid off. Thanks

This car is 50k miles higher than OP's. That is 3-4 years depending on how much you drive. I have no reasons why OP couldn't get more around $12,000-$12,500 after TB/WP service. Unless its a total shit box but doesn't sound like it.

Op, do you have any pictures?

This is a heavily discussion topic here on AZ about the 7 years mark on TB, I found nothing stated in owner manual and service manual indicate it need to replace 7 years. If you got the TB done its more like icing on the cake and for most of the time its the TB tensioner that goes bad before the 105k miles. 2 of my TLs suffer from bad TB tensioner before the 105k miles mark.

I have a few I took to throw a quick ad up on CL. Not the best quality, but once I get back to my computer I’ll post them.

My point is, the market value for newer cars is heavily impacted by mileage, as cars age the impact of low mileage is less reflected in price. Said another way, I don't see the lower mileage impacting the resale price as much as you might think.

To the OP, I really hope for your sake you can get $12,000 or more for your car.

Appreciate both opinions, it's the reason I wanted to start the thread in the first place. These cars aren't the easiest to get a lot of good comparable data points for given that they are somewhat rare. Figured I would ask to get a good idea of what to expect and make a more educated decision on selling it or keeping it after the timing belt service.

Posted a few pics above.

In the end, someone who knows the cars will appreciate the low mileage and pay a little more for that.

lol I think you already who is that "someone" lol.

OP your car is clean and for being in TX its a plus for not having crack dash, I would say $11.5k is the lowest I will take

Car looks good from the pictures. Another big selling point is prior maintenance records, GLWS

IMO: A quick look at comparables, would lead me to believe, that a $12.5 K asking price, would be within reason. NOT MANY cars available, with the history, and care, your car displays. If you include the T/B service, I think your car would represent a very good BUY, at this price.

How much do you guys think a clean 07 TL-S auto 148k miles nbp with 2 tone black and gray interior would fetch? Is the black on black two tone rare by any chance? I'm thinking not.

$8-$9K

Black on Black autos are not "rare". Kinetic Blue Pearl with two-tone interior and 6 speed is "rare". Some say the Moroccan Red Pearl is "rare" as well with the same two-tone and 6 spd.

Makes sense. You think these cars will hold value as they get older?

I think it's on the buyer.. I paid 11k for 91k miles on NBP TL-S.. No where clean as yours.. Plus you got the A-Spec wheels.. You do live in TX, but I think the right buyer will buy it for more than 10.5

I wasn’t sure in the A-Spec wheels, figure certain buyers may prefer them. The car came with them, but honestly I always wanted the OEM waffles. Just never got around to finding a good set and changing them.

Yes and NO depend on what condition the car is in (alot of TL-S sold for higher price) usually they are 100% stock (either with KBP or MRP MT with two tone seat color combo) with some kind interesting story along with service record history behind it.

At the same time TL-S MT isn't a hot market item let say like the 1st gen NSX or MK4 Supra so don't expect the value goes up that much and the market is small for "collector buyer".

Only a certain few will increase in value or hold value. Who could have predicted the stratospheric rise of the 993 or Z8? I have just started to see my 25yo Benz rise to above what I paid and its a very limited production vehicle.

The answer is no one knows.

OP - I'd put a price on of $12.5k and negotiate from there. Not sure theres value in changing TB to then sell it seems like a lot of work for minimal return.

Appreciate the input from everyone. Found a buyer who had been seeking out a white TL-S, so they had an idea of how they are somewhat rare to find in this condition/mileage. I made sure to disclose the timing belt dilemma, and they understood, just asked me to knock down the price some. Ended up selling for 11.9K as is. I definitely will miss the car.

The color isn't rare but like I said before your dash still intact despite being a TX car which makes it stand out more. As far as being rare probably everyone else in TX prefer RWD like 3 series, GS350, G37.

You definitely got TOP DOLLAR, congratulations. A clean, well maintained, cared for car will always bring more than the average, it's just a matter of the urgency to sell, and finding a buyer who appreciates a nice car, and is willing to pay.
