Electrical Issue?
Hey everyone,
Gonna need some help on this one.
2006 TL
So, I was on a long road trip several weeks ago and ran into a problem on the first day of driving. The car was fairly loaded down with all of my stuff from college but nothing crazy. After several hours on the highway, the speedometer suddenly dropped to zero and stayed there. The motor was still running and everything else seemed to be working normally. I then pressed the accelerator and the RPMs went up but there was no "go" behind it. It just seemed like I was in neutral. (I have an automatic transmission) I shifted into neutral and back into drive but that didn't fix anything. (speedometer is still at zero and engine is at idle) I coasted to the side of the highway and noticed smoke from under the hood so I briefly turned the car off. The smoke quickly cleared and I started the car up with no problem. I sat there for about 5 minutes and shifted the car into drive, after 5 or 7 seconds the clutch seemed to engage and I could carefully drive the car up to the next exit. I sat there and started troubleshooting. Transmission oil was a little darker than it should be but there was plenty there. All the fuses were okay and none were blown or missing. I was there for about 30 minutes and then tried to drive it again. 3 or 4 seconds after shifting into drive (shorter than the first attempt) I was rolling again and made it down to the next truck stop. Long story short I made it to my destination for the night and I took it to AutoZone the next day to pull the codes. NOTHING. No errors were found. I drove it 1200 miles the rest of the way home without any problems. I took it to a mechanic several days ago and he found nothing.
I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else. Its just so bizarre and I cant figure it out. The Acura garage is going to charge an arm and a leg so I'm looking for any help I can get.
Thanks!

When was the last time your transmission was serviced? Fluid change, pressure switches, etc?
