Duralast brake pads question...
anyone tried the duralast gold cmax ceramic pads for the brembos from autozone...heck for 60 bucks i might just put thoes on when i need pads...i dont race, but i do like the stopping power of the brembos, but not the dust....

I have the Duralast Gold pads on one of my cars. They are OK, but I wouldn't consider them to be a top-tier pad. But the Duralast Gold Cmax pad is supposed to compete head-to-head with the best pads on the market, so it's possible that they are a lot better than their Duralast Gold cousin. Autozone's brake pads are made by Morse.

Less brake dust than original pads. Stopping power is comparable to original.
However they sqeak badly when lightly braking such as rolling to a stop at a stoplight. Just ease pedal pressure or apply harder and it goes away. Still annoying sometimes.
With the lifetime warranty, I would buy again.

I put them on my car about 15k miles ago. I think you need to apply a little more pedal pressure to get the same stopping power. However, they show no signs of wear, don't squeal or leave any dust (unlike the Brembo pads) and were cheap. I like them!

I don't have brembos but I do have the pads you speak of. I've tried a number of pads in a 3 month span and I kept the cmax because of its performance and little to no dust it creates. I had the gold for about 2 weeks but I would get a slight brake fade after they get hot. This is just from being caught at 2 lights going 50mph to 0 downhill. I also run EBC slotted/dimpled rotors.

They're great. I honestly haven't washed my wheels in over 2k miles
and I do notice some dusting but very minimal. I can take pics if you guys want.
I checked the pads last week (damn rotors are hot spotting) and pads still look new. I did use CRC's anti squeak goo [red bottle] on the pad caliper bedding.
Stopping is good but you definitely need to check the brake fluid. I bled my fluid with Castrol GT LMA (low moisture activation).. it's a bit of a hard find but I'm pretty sure Pep Boys carries it. 1 Qt and I still had a bit in the bottle for top-off (didn't need any though).
Best thing about these babies.. When they need replacement.. take them in and get new ones.. FREE!

OHh yes my dad swapped them out on his GMC, and they do squeak real bad. I would try to find diff kind, u dont wanna hear a TL squeaking while it's stoping quite embarrasing, to hear a luxury car sound like that lol.

The stopping performance is better. I really noticed a big difference on my X. When I was changing them I changed the fronts first and the rears the next weekend on both cars, and I noticed an immediate difference, my girlfriend didn't acknowledge the difference as much but it was night and day for me. Fastest stop I've made on them was maybe.. ~80-0 in the TL.. I haven't seen any smoking. My good buddy recommended I try them, and for my driving purposes they work well.. I'm not the type to ride my brakes or use my brakes to reduce speed so they get minimal use as needed, but I will apply them firmly before coming to a stop and let off to a roll before stopping.

But yeah I meant resurface on the rotors. Thanks for clarifying.
Anyways I'm having this annoying squeak when I reverse (coming from the front wheels), and brake pads are perfect and Uncle (mechanic) told me to resurface them or buy one of those cleaners/sprayers to do so, but they never seem to work!

Don't resurface these POS OE rotors. Get a better rotor.. I've learned the hard way. Anyone have over 20k miles on an aftermarket rotor with no warpage? I'm researching stoptech BBK's..any donations?

FWIW, I went to Advance Auto Parts and their pads carry a lifetime warranty, but that warranty does not cover wear replacement. It is only if the pad fails by prematurely breaking apart or something. They tried to tell me Autozone's lifetime warranty is the same, BUT, I know for a FACT that I have swapped at least 4 pairs of shot pads for new ones on my Mustang. Not sure what Advance is smoking.

Ok...just picked up a set for the fronts. The guy didn't ask about my tranny but DID ask if it was a type S. In 2004 it wasn't called type S...but it is an Aspec. Did I get the right ones? The reason I ask is because there was "hardware" included which I don't think are necessary with the Brembo's. Maybe it's a part # that works with a few different models? I don't know. Part I got was DB917FF stamped on the pads or 1008787 is also on there and receipt says DGC787.
Also, on a sidenote What's the deal with bleeding? I have read that you don't have to bleed to change them. So if I understand correctly, knock both pins out...pull out spring thing holding it in...use wood, or screw driver to pry the caliper open enough to squeeze in the new pads...pop in and voila. It's done?! Is that right, or do you have to release the bleeder nipples to stretch the caliper, or after install.

oh man.. that's hilarious.. it must be your marketing avatar for RWD in a can. Anyone try Cmax??.. I considered them when I last changed pads but no one could tell me the difference between regular DG ceramics. I'm cheap so the cost difference without any feedback on the difference turned me away.

Part # DGC787 are for automatic transmission models.
You need Auto Zone part # DGC1049 for Brembos.
What is the part# for the rear pads?

please dont grease both sides of the shim- only the part where it contacts the pistons or fingers -depending on caliper typer
flush the brake fluid first!!! avoids problems with backwash
outer nipple then inner on the brembo fronts

squeel under light braking is from ridge or glaze
You can DE-glaze pads by doing a pad pedding set of warm up braking to put the pads to real use
