this is for my 07 TL-s with DRL's
ok guys i'll be the guinea pig on this one. i had the W3 cree hb3 bulbs. those lasted about 2-3 months so i've had the drl indicator light in my dash for that long. now it doesn't even bother me. i went to the V-leds website and saw that they had a DRL upgrade kit for the 9005 hb3 bulb. it states its for the Lexus IS250 and 350. i thought "hey its the same bulb" right! so i picked up a set. i got them in today and installed them. they work! these are like 10x's brighter than the W3 cree leds i had before. the only thing that sucks is that the indicator light is still there. but like i said before it really doesn't bother me anymore. one LED is a tiny bit brighter than the other, but during the day this should not be that noticeable. lets see how long these last. i'll take some pics for all to see tomorrow.

Also, why is DRL light on - not enough current draw/resistance?

these are the ones that died on me. and yes they are like i stated 10x's brighter. no flicker yet. not sure why the indicator light is on, but they both light up fine. don't think it's a lack of current draw/resistance. these are soo much brighter.

Did you use (were you able to use) the "DRL Module" that comes with them?

I'd love a "white" LED DRL, but it's gotta be "bullet proof" - i.e. reasonble life, no flicker, and no DRL warning light.

I had a lot of hope for the previous set.

wow it's much brighter than the other led's... it's more of a bluish color rather than white though.

thats just how the picture came out its not really that blue. but you're right, piss yellow looks much better.

Hey jpt, I actually got this upgrade right when he came out with it, and I too noticed that one LED light is brighter than the other. I talked to Jake from V-leds and he's gonna look into evening out the light between the two LEDs. I didn't like how one was brighter than the other so I'm sticking with the stock halogens till Jake can hopefully fix the modules. Sorry forgot to post about this, probably coulda saved you the trouble :P

Why is the DRL indicator on? I bought some 1watt led that doesn't light up so there's no indicator light on the dash. So I don't have DRL, but I'm using dual angel eye halos as my DRL. So this is an alternative to disable drl and not have the indicator light on the dash.

I'm giving up on VLEDs... mine work when they feel like it, and now they are messing with my hid current flow... I don't use the auto-on feature anymore, just to prevent fluctuation. I'm done with LEDs.

I know some members are using yellow bulbs instead...any recommendation? I need to be close to hoen yellow endurance bulb output as possible...very yellow.

I'm using the Nokya Hyper Yellow bulbs. Had them in since May and they are holding up great!

I have had those in quite a few of my previous cars, and have never had one fail. They are very yellow and very long lasting.

I was the first to have these LEDs on my car. I've had these V-LED DRLs on my car for almost 2 years now. No problems. They are on 24/7 because the DesignTech module I have wired up to them gives 80% daytime, 100% at night (I have an 04-06 with fogs that I use as DRLs) and when the car is off they stay on like 10%. These bulbs see a lot of abuse from voltage spikes when I start/stop the car and bass from my stereo, but no problems. Working strong. They aren't as bright as halogen or HIDs but they are the brightest LED solution that will give you a color match. Those W3 bulbs or any other imposter is no good.

BTW I noticed that V-LEDs also sells switchbacks now so we have a 2nd source for them besides autolumination now.

I don't understand how that inline module is supposed to work though. Where are the bulbs supposed to receive power from if the supply from the car is turned off? The DesignTech system works like a relay and takes power directly from the battery as well as a 12V trigger. I think with the V-LEDs module, they are really supposed to be load resistors to prevent a "lights burned out" warning. Very misleading I am sure they confuse a lot of people/get returns with that.

OK nevermind I just figured it out. It steps up the DRL low voltage input to a full full 12V voltage perfect for you 07+ guys so you can run your LEDs at full brightness. You could actually run an HID kit off your DRL outputs with that module too!

^ What would you recommend in my place? I need a stable, low draw, bulbs to produce a very yellow color.... Something like hoen endurance...

yeah, you could have save me some $$ too. im pretty disappointed in them. they suck during the day. at least the dim one sucks. looks like it's not even on.

i think i'm giving up on leds as far as DRL's prolly gonna have to go back to stock or go the opposite route "yellow" suggestions anybody?

ha,ha, you're funny dude. your comment didn't even phase me in the least, cuz it's like i said "NOT BLUE", just photo trickery. but i also would rather have the stock "piss yellow" than a 1/2 operational DRL system. i think i'll have to go yellow, maybe a very "ricer yellow" Hoen bulb.

^ haha good point...I'd like to do all these light mods..its just the part about having to remove the whole god damn bumper etc that is a MAJOR deterrent for me

tell me about it bro. i will be doing a 6000k HID fog light upgrade on my halogen fogs this weekend. i'll have to remove the bumper for this one. but it only takes like 15 min to remove. i might be able to do it without removing the bumper, but i want to do it right and mount those ballasts in a good spot. i also got some 6000k bulb upgrades to match

uhhh, you don't have to remove the bumper just to do a DRL LED mod.... you can do all the work by just reaching under the hood.

I also had the same dilemma. I had Yellow Nokyas in there as DRLs and I liked the contrast from the other bulbs and having the car look unique. I liked the color but the bulbs burn out fast and halogen of course is not low-draw. I really wish the LED bulbs I have were made in yellow....I know hardly anyone would buy those but I would...I think the very best option is to through an 3000K HID kit in there. They are cheap as hell nowadays as little as $60, you can't lose. Pretty much 3 times the cost of halogens but you won't regret it. They give a beautiful yellow and just draw 35W.

This is GREAT! Hope it works. It looks like it makes sense. Trick one plug into thinking there's a bulb there with the resistor, and then whatever voltage comes out from the other one will be even for each bulb, so they should light up equally.

alright i just got the harness in the mail today and just installed it. now i am fairly certain they do work. now i say certain because one of my 68 M-SMT DRL does not work. now i have 2 other sets of 9005 LEDs that i have tested.

*V-LEDS HID WHITE 3W CREE DRL BULBS HB3 9005
*PIAA TERA 8000K WHITE LED for 9005 9006 HB3 HB4 Fog DRL

now i know the 3W CREE DRL BULBS work without the harness but it is very dim. with the harness it is alot brighter.
the PIAAs also work without the harness but also with the harness it is alot brighter.
also there are no DRL lights on the dash with this harness. i am using the 3W CREE DRL BULBS for now untill i can get a replacement 68 M-SMT DRL bulb.

sorry i cant say for certain that they work.

Byou say that the DRL light is still on? How can that be if the lights work? I tried using some Nokya bulbs and only one of them installed will work but not two. I wonder how long these will last. I have some V-LEDs for my license plate and they look AWESOME too. I love the white light look.

As far as one looking brighter than the other, I think that somehow both DRL wirings are "connected". They may use the same electricity and when both connected it causes the second one in the series to have less voltage. Like I said above, when I have one of my Nokya bulbs installed, it works, not both...

^^ ill do one better. heres a video. i think its available in HD. the 3W CREE isnt as bright as the 68 M-SMTs. actually in the sunlight its really hard to see. it kinda defeats the purpose of DRLs. im sure with the 68 M-SMTs it will be much brighter.

JP why don't you do what I did. Take apart your gauges and just put some black electrical tap over the led for the DRL's. That way I don't see the light anymore.
