Hey Guys,
I'm officially AEMed . The installation was not that bad thanks to the DYIs. I did it without removing the front bumper. Since I know what I'm doing now, I can say that I can do it again for half the time I spend on mine.
Just one quick question though.
I did sea foam the car after the installation and I had to go for a ride but it started to rain. I hit the highway and you know how it is when it rains even you keep distance from the others.
I came back home and wanted to see how the filter is doing and I saw water on it. Not much but still. So, would that be a problem and in a future I should not drive the car when it pours?

All I can say is that, It can be done. By watching the DYIs you know what screws and bolts you have to remove. I can say that half of them I did not even see. I just guided my self by touching it.
On the other hand, I did not want to remove the RJ bumper due to the perfect fit the body shop did and I was not sure if I can do the same.
Once again, it can be done without removing the bumper.

ive noticed that most ppl that install CAI are in nice and warm climates (where it doesnt snow). i know there is always the possibility of hydrolocking, but how would a CAI hold up in a cold climate where it snows a lot (e.g. CT/the northeast)? would this be bad for the engine or would i possibly be worse off in the winters? i would like to do this, but am hesitant due to the fact that it rains a good amt and snows a good amt here
(sorry to digress!)

just installed mine.. vid helped alot! even though I have installed hundreds of these things on other cars (mostly civics and integras) .. always nice to see what the difference is on our car.. makes install sooo much smoother.. only problem i had was taking the stupid bracket off of the A/C vac line that connects to all the tubing.. lol .. just kept pushing the clip the wrong way..
oh yah, another thing was that instead of drilling those little screws on the intake, i just used nose pliers and ripped those screws out.. my drill was too big to fit in the wheel well and i was too lazy to turn my wheel lol ..

Just finishing putting my bumper back on about an hour ago after installing my CAI ... THANK YOU...THANK YOU..THANK YOU...
I saw your vids before I bought my car and was doing research but was still intimidated about taking off the bumper. However I called a couple dealerships in my area about having it installed this morning and got quotes ranging from 235-260 for the 2 hours of labor they charge for it.
After that I grabbed my laptop brought it outside and played your vid step by step following along and had almost no issues. On my 08 TL's there were a couple of small differences but nothing that could not be easily figured out. In total it took me 2 hour including a quick run to the auto parts store.
I will say after only making a quick trip around the block I am going to be spending a little more time in the upper RPM range for a little while.

The drill wasn't needed. I use it to quickly knock out these two aluminum clips/clamps when removing the stock intake. My drill wasn't charged when I helped a friend a couple days ago so I just used a flat head screw driver and a hammer.

yeh it only came with one holes, so we kind of modified it...we didnt take out the whole black thing that the holes was connected to(u know what im talkin about) but we only took off the end that is connected to the intake and we connected that end to the intake, u think it will be ok? (hopefully you understand what im talkin about) also i didnt get any decal not the license plate thingy

SandiegoDrive,
I really appreciate the time you took to make the excellent DIY Videos to uninstall the OEM- and install the new intake.
I was quite surprised that there wasn't a stock resonator in my 2005 TL, I was under the impression the stock was in the same spot for TL's from 2004-2008.
I've only tested the intake performance around the neighborhood, but I love the throaty sound. Installed the AEM V2.
Thank you again!

The rain shouldn't be a problem unless you're driving through large puddles. Just be cautious when it's wet out. You don't need a bypass and I don't think many people use them.

My stock air intake does that.. as soon as I shut the car off it takes a gulp of air. I can hear it when I'm working on the car and the hood is up and I shut the car off. So this is not because of the CAI

Anyone know if putting in an aftermarket CAI will void warranty? I don't want to go to the dealer one day to get something worked on that's still considered under warranty and have them say that I have an aftermarket CAI and I just voided the warranty.
