07 TLs type s

To anyone who has an 07 tl type s:

Has anyone attempted this project w/ an 07 tl? I was going to clear out my headlights but I dont see a purpose anymore b/c i dont think i can remove the signal light bulbs in the side mirrors.

I was going to change my front signals to super white and the side mirror signal lights to super white also. But someone told me that I will not be able to remove those bulbs on the side mirrors?

Has anyone replaced those side mirror signals yet? Please let me know

Regarding side mirrors IDK...

As far as 2007 headlights, it should be the same, but I CAN'T confirm that. If you PM TLFourPlay, he has 2007 Type which he blacked out his lights. So you should be good.

Nope. Not on the inside. When I took those pictures, that car was semi-dirty. Although, now I've noticed a haze build up in one of might lights... :/

Theres like this pocket like slit ========== ; which the housing sits on. Make sure all the clips clip in securely when putting back together. If one doesn't sit, then the headlight won't be flush with the fender/bumper.

With the silicone I spread a nice long bead of it in the slit/pocket. Attached housing lense, once I checked all clips clipped, and it was nice and tight. With my finger I spread more silicone, stuffing the slit all the way around.

Make sure you let it cure before mounting on car, or you might risk breaking the bond...

$250?

I always advocate for DIY, great job...

Most folks I've ran into don't pay more than $150 for headlight clearing/blacking service though. JnC used to offer a "core" service for $150. Dennis at imodify in my area charges $150, and he does all the removal, baking, painting and reinstallation at that price.

I was quoted $50 to paint all the parts to headlights proffessionally.

It's not THAT expensive.

Yeah, but you're the guy that sent his headlights all the way to Peurto Rico to be cleared...

as opposed to using one of the forum sponsors that are KNOWN for doing quality work. JnC, Retrofit Source, etc...

Is there a way to take off the amber reflector without loosing the chrome line? Also, is Honda Bond good enough to seal the lights back up?

Yes, thats the way I and nearly everyone has done it. In order to remove the amber you must take out the chrome, but once you remove the amber, you can place the chrome strip back on using epoxy.

Honda Bond I can't comment on since I've never used it. I do know Nissan has something equivalent called Nissan Buttle Rubber (at least I think its called that), I've READ on here that works as well.

Cleared Headlights

To all tl owners who've had their headlights cleared....

Did anyone get condensation when they did this mod?

I took my tl to a body shop to do the headlight mod. It looked good for one day til i washed my car the next day and all this condensation built up. He basically cut a slit in the back of the housing and yanked out the reflector. Condensation built up everywhere blowing my daytime running light circuits and one side of my hids.

Now i really dont know what to do. I'm thinking of buying older used headlight housings and doing this whole job over maybe myself. Gonna transfer all my hid components to the new housing.

Does anyone have any ideas? Or does anyone know if 2004.05 or 06 headlights fit onto a 2007 tl ?

I have used 7443 just fine.

Other members have comfirmed that 7440 works as well. I believe (not sure though) that they are the same thing (7440 and 7443) only one is new? Not sure, but both work.

I did not like the stock lights as well, but I used a blue-ish white bulb:

^ On the left are the stock turn signal bulb and the stock foglight, and on the left, my replacements.

As far as LED Orange/Amber bulbs, I believe there is a thread floating around that talks about that....

I'll be back with a search...

stavebomb: Check out post #4 of this thread....

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...DS+turn+signal

Also this massive thread started by Kennedy, lots and lots of good information there.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...DS+turn+signal

Just and FYI, I never ran LED's in my turn signals only bulbs, so I can't help you too much with LED's.

I do know that you have to modify the opening for the LED's (for most LEDs) so they can fit through. Keep in mind only minor modification. Plus you need to use a resistor since LED's are a low wattage compared to regular bulbs (?).

Hope that helps.

I saw some leds that looked that they fit without modification and seemed like they plugged right in judging by the conection part. Can anybody confirm that a resistor is needed for LED corner lights?

They aren't the brightest, but bright enough. At during the day I wish they were brighter, but at night they were brighter than the OEM bulbs.

Is the orange reflector one piece or two? I want to get rid of the long piece and keep the small one on the corner. I never see anyone paint the chrome strip, Can it be done?
