DIY: 2004-2008 Sunshade/Moon Roof Cover/Sun Roof Cover/ Removal and Glass Replacement
I purposely included different variations of what people may call the moon roof or the cover that slides over top of it to make it more search engine friendly for future use.
As part of my interior swap, I had to remove the sunshade that slides over the moon roof. This DIY can be used to replace many moon roof components including the glass, sunshade cover, or for those of you who want to wrap your headliner with Alcantara or any other material. I didn't see anything on Acurazine closely related so I figured I would make a DIY. Tools Needed
https://webapi.bumpserver.com/v1/dat...2-4a3e81ba6e7b 1. Locate and remove the four torx T25 screws which secure the moon roof. Here are some pictures for reference. http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1339.png http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1341.png http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1343.png 2. Carefully remove moon roof from vehicle as shown. https://webapi.bumpserver.com/v1/dat...b-4a8209c9e602 3. Remove the drain channel as shown below using needle nose pliers. Be very careful to not break clips! http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1346.png http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1350.png https://webapi.bumpserver.com/v1/dat...4-d9ab9fd8b73c Removed. https://webapi.bumpserver.com/v1/dat...9-0c01a193d9f6 Repeat on other side. 4. Angle drain channel up as such. You will then pull up on the drain channel to unclip it. https://webapi.bumpserver.com/v1/dat...6-d9f2c0a7349a http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1353.png http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1355.png http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1356.png Repeat on the other side. Make sure you have the clips lined up properly and that you have the drain channel pointing up when unclipping it. After unclipping it, you can simply slide it towards the front of the car and remove it. You will have to do this on both sides. 5. Remove the set plates from each side using a phillips screwdriver. (4 total screws) https://webapi.bumpserver.com/v1/dat...3-b8a0f04d227f https://webapi.bumpserver.com/v1/dat...5-15ad8ebb27ef Now you're ready to remove the sunshade. 6. It's really hard to describe the process in which the sunshade is removed so I just made a video. Be very careful as this thing will crack and break easily. It CANNOT be removed from inside the vehicle, you must remove it in this way to not break it. Removed. https://webapi.bumpserver.com/v1/dat...b-6a5177372f90 *Installation is the reverse of removal  (Honda) Make sure to use thread locker on ALL screws when putting everything back together. Be very careful when snapping the drain channel back in to not break the clips as they are very fragile! Lube up the clip on the drain channel first so it slides in easier. **You must complete the moon roof height adjustment procedure and calibration if disassembling any component above. Here are the service manual scans outlining this procedure. Height adjustment procedure must be completed AFTER moon roof calibration procedure. http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1406.png http://content.screencast.com/users/...08-18_1408.png  |

I know this an extremely old post, but I wanted to bump it. I have a Type-S headliner and sunshade that have been sitting ins storage for quite some time and I think it's time to work on this.
I don't know when I'll get around to working on this, but wish me luck! |
