Custom headlights by Daniel123588, what do you think?
Hi everybody, after being inspired by JNC's headlight work, I have been determined to try it on my own after all thats the best way to learn. so my original set up was just
1. black out housing (including turn signal part), CCFL, 85122+, ZKW rep, and using the factory 7443 amber bulb but i broke off the contact point on the base of the bulb so that it would only flash during turn signal and not parking light. Anyway this set up was only for a month or so, it got kind of boring on top of that my headlight lenses were so oxidized i decided to take it apart again and sand and polish the lens this time. Heres a pic which many people already have the same set up.
Anyway so thats that. Heres what ive been working for the past couple of weeks, there were some better ideas i had but my GF kicked me out her condo so i had to clean all my headlight stuff which was totally scattered across a table along with random LED's, bolts, washers, ballast, etc, i actually lost a few things or i misplaced them. So anyway ive just wired up some single LED's in the original amber diffuser. The white light is for parking light and the orange is obviously for turn signal. Im still waiting to install it on my car but awaiting one last part that autolumination made a mistake on. They are also giving me a hard time to obtain something that only cost like
5-10 cents and I only need 2, which is those little pins you put in harnesses that you connect a wire to. They made a mistake and send me a harness thats prewired for 7440 bulb and not 7443 but its taking awhile for them to send me some of those pins.
OHK, anyway tell me what you guys think. Heres some pics.
Ive decided not to use the angel eyes, the angel eyes is too much trouble to install and maintain. The glue came off one time and the ring was just hanging. This is the 3rd time i opened these headlights, im so tired of doing this stuff i dont know why i keep doing it.

I dont know what you mean by pin holes, its all LED's in there, there are no holes. My original project was black but everybody has blacked out headlights already.
The white is actually the LED surface, all the led's have been sanded down to make a perfect flush fit, which was time consuming. Unfortunately i cant wire them up anytime soon until autolumination send me some things i need.
JNC is currently working on my CDM headlight which i look forward to receiving, unfortunately i have the wrong ballast size cause the headlight seller didnt tell me much along with some other issues.
Thanks for your response guys. i actually want to open up my taillights and wire up some circuit board leds and make circle pattern brake lights but this time im going to wait for a second pair to arrive first otherwise my car will be sitting again for couple weeks. LOL. Hope these ideas help to inspire other great projects for others.

I think he had them in black, but now they're white.
They look real good. You get major points for creativity and the workmanship looks good too.
Can't wait to see these on a WDP.

yeah originally in black but painted them white since my car is white. Im waiting for one part from autlumination so that i can run the three wires (ground, parking, turn signal) without drilling a hole in the headlight housing. There are really cool products out threre but you just have to find them.Heres what autolumination makes but they are giving me the hardest time just to buy the tiny little pin that goes into the harness. dont mind the writing on the picture, i did that to explaint to the lady at autolumination because they have no idea what im talking about.
So this is a 7443 base bulb that connects to a harness, but the harness is only prewired for 2 wires (ground, and probably turn signal), all i need is the tiny little pin so that i can use all three functions of this product, therefore wiring will be extremely simple. BUT the person at autolumination ask me like "what am i using it for" , "I think you have the wrong item" and keeps giving me the run around. These pins only cost like 10 cents, i dont know wahts taking them so long to just charge me like couple bucks and send it out. If they dont respond to me soon, im probably going to have to just drill a hole but i really dont want to do that.

Wow another original headlight project. It's not really my style but regardless I am very impressed by your creativity and workmanship. It's not as easy to execute this stuff as people think.
I don't know what has changed lately but in the last few months I have seen new breakthroughs and unique headlight mods never seen before. When I did switchbacks and angel-eyes in 2007 it was all ahhs and oohs! Now it is old news, lol. We should do a contest or something to brainstorm the best ideas. I am going to redo my headlights in the spring too. These are all great ideas!

No joke eh...?
JnC were talking about doing exactly this in my epic thread. Although I admire the work, the outcome isn't that appealing.
I would have used strip based leds, and the center bar as the running lights, then overlayed 2 yellow led bar strips above an below the center bar. It's the holes that make this look so awkward.
Either way, props to daniel for going above and beyond on this mod...
I just got a set of CDM headlights off ebay... The plotting begins.

lights, your funny. Yeah like kennedy said the led strip might be better but i havnt ordered it to see what it looks like. And my car was sitting for about 3-4 weeks so i decided to just hurry up and put everything together. Theres another thread i think in the picture gallery of someone using the strip on the black thin part which the chrome strip is attached to. His outcome look pretty damn good. let me take a look.......
ahhh here we go, this guy did a fantastic job from what i can see. I would have used a white strip but whatever. Check out this thread people.

rockyfeller, a contest huh, what would be the prize? hmmmm
as far as ideas though, i think some custom paint inside would be great. Anybody ever see a chameleon paint job, im sure you have. But have you ever seen white painted over the chameleon, it looks super cool, you can see shades of the chameleon colors in the white. I post here too much, guess im just bored.

hahah what a joke, im no guru, ive always just attemped to learn things by doing it myself, that goes for anything. There are always times when i totally f**ked stuff up and costed quite a bit of money but thats what the learning process is all about. Elegant type S, you should give it a shot, there are so many DIY threads as well as so much helpful people here on these forums, Unlike some other forums.
