Hey guys, right now I have base 2002 Acura TL. I've had it since 2011 and have done the AV6 swap and everything under the sun and getting bored of it.

At the moment I have $3k layin around and figure use it on a down payment for a new TL. Well being in New England, there isn't much choices and I've only come across 2 07/08 Type-S in the 6 speed.

Is this a good deal or should I pass and hopefully wait for a lower mileage one?

quick facts: $11,450. 2007 Type-S. 6-speed. 155k miles. NH dealer which means no lemon law. no carfax info available from dealer.

There is another dealer who is charging a higher amount for a 2008 but I don't know if this is a rip off or not.

I've spoken in person and test drove it, they won't budge on the $16,990 price even though there is a long scratch on the driver door. the car pulls to the right. not factory tires but a set of ANTARES INGENS?

Thoughts???

I don't know that any lemon law in MA will apply to a used car.

But I'm just guessing. I have no connection with MA.

$17 is too much for a 3G TL Type S. At this point the newest car is still 8 years old. I would aim for under $15k and preferably, under $13k.

thanks for the reply, the $17k figure I personally think is high too.

in MA the lemon law for used vehicles varies depending on mileage. if under 79,999 miles, you get 60 days. over that you get 30 days.

the 2007 is a great price but 155k miles... idk and NH doesn't have a used car lemon law so thats double idk

I don't think the lemon law is a full bumper to bumper warranty. It probably covers something very specific.

I wouldn't really factor it into my purchase decision either way. If it was a tie breaker between cars that are very close to one another, that is one thing. If it means passing up a clean well priced car for one that is covered under MA's "warranty" I wouldn't.

I'm honestly not sure what the lemon law covers either...

ugh, hopefully I can find a decently priced one. here in New England they're either real high mileage or wickedly overpriced with automatic trannys...

If you are interested in the 07, try and check to see if the TB service has been done. You can do it yourself if you are able or have a trusted shop do an inspection on it for peace of mind. The inspection should reveal any mechanical or structural defects foregoing your need for a carfax.

Regarding the 08? Pass.

Judging by the prices of 6MT these days, the prices don't seem too bad if in good condition. I generally don't like to deal with a dealer who "won't budge at all" though.

is it worth the 2007 worth buying if at 155k miles? I drive 500/week for work alone.

is there anything I should be looking out for when looking? i'm not familiar with any 3G problems/fixes.

Here in Seattle the TL-S is a rare market. In the past year of looking, the only one I found with less than 60K miles and in mint condition (clean carfax, no accidents) was listed at $20K to start, from a reputable dealer. Even after talking them down it was beyond my reasonable price range, so I decided to pass. Maybe out there in other parts of the US a similar vehicle could be had for less? If this particular example was $15K before tax and license I would have taken it!

The 07 you should tell them to send you the carfax. Price doesn't seem to bad if the car is mechanically in very good shape as well as physically, but Something closer to $10k or less I would think
