Curious--Any TL-S Female Owners Out There?
#42
Oh, brother, this was intended as an innocent query to see if any other gals had sprung for the TLS. But after I posted it, I had second thoughts it might not be the best way to get to know the audience, and not all female TLS owners would want to post a response (understandably).
I would really like to see the demographics on this board vs. the total TL population. Am beginning to feel the posters on this board are not necessarily representative of the total Acura population, and I've heard that in other threads.

FTW
I haven't seen a TypeS in MN yet.. i've seen them in the dealership lot but no one driving one.
I've seen 2 female TL drives, a few TSX drivers. But it's mostly guys ranging from 25-40 yrs old.
PS. i'm 23. Not that it matters but I got a job out of college and decided that this car was good for me.

...then you haven't seen my wife when she needs to get some where...she'll hammer on my TL worse then I do somedays...

I was at the dealership about a month ago...and this 85 year old lady totters out of a brand new TL in the service department, complaining that the warning lights are all going off on her brand new TL's dashboard..."there's something wrong with this brand new car, it's only a month old and all of my tires are leaking air!" Resisting the urge to laugh... I looked and she's low on air pressure, so I nicely explain to her that the outside air temp has just dropped over 50 degrees and she needs more air in her tires. The warning is there to help her, just like the car can warn her now when it's low on gas.
"Well I shouldn't have to fix this!" she snaps at me..LOL... at this point I told her I'm sure the nice mechanic can fix her problem for her and walked away!
So...chalk up another female TL owner! ROFL I'm sure she wouldn't be impressed with any mods either though...unless it can fix those pesky tire leak problems these cars have! LOL

if acura would have came out with the TL-S in 05...i would have gotten one, but at the time it was the TL in AT or MT...so i went with MT with plans to make modifications. so never mind just female TL drivers, but how about those who actually enjoy high performance?? i can at least say i paid for my TL and worked my ass off to earn such a privilege while some the young fresh out of college or in college brats had mommy and daddy buy you a car. earn it and you might appreciate it better.
to the point of this post...a proud female TL owner, MT, 18" Enkei rims, and AEM CAI. the rest of the peeps around here that own TL's are in their 40-50's.

All right! Actually, I was interested in the female performance driver, i.e, the TL-S question. Sounds like you have a great rig, and good to hear from you. I echo some of your other comments.

I went with the Type S I didn't buy my TL for daily use, it's a weekend / project car so I wanted top of the line. Took several months before I could find one with low mileage and not beat to hell. It was worth the wait, I love my car.

Timing is irrelevant. If another woman does a google search and finds this thread, my post is potentially beneficial to her. The subject is not old, TL's are still being bought and sold.
Question is, how did you benefit this thread?

Also irrelevant! I've been a member here going on 3 years and I have a whole 10 posts. Just because someone's profile may not look active it doesn't always mean they aren't. I use this site to research mods for my car ... maybe you should spend more time doing the same

People get so worked up over reviving old threads. Who cares as long the revive post is relevant, and in this it is case.
Not a female owner here, BUT I bought my car from a female owner. 06 base TL 1-owner.
And as I drive around town, I noticed one demographic group driving TLs:
Middle aged to older aged upper middle/middle-class females. (based on purely unscientific observation of makeup/dress/clothes)
This is definitely a demographic that Honda is trying to capture. My prior owner was a university professor and her husband was a lawyer. They just bought another Acura RDX (though they do have family working in Honda)

Safety Car
You know, I think it is because females really do like Hondas and Toyotas.....and so the middle/lower-middle incomes will stick with the tried and true econo-boxes like: Accord, Camry, Corolla, Civic, etc.
Now as they move up in their career/earnings/income level, they will naturally want to upgrade to a better car...and what better to stick with known quality/reliably BUT in a better appointed interior/looks/features....and enter Acura and Lexus.
I see this with LOT of Lexus as well. Lots of middle to upper middle class females driving around in Lexus sedans/SUV as well.
And this goes to males as well I think:
1 of my best friends just bought a 2nd gen 2000 TL with 1-owner and that 1-owner was like a higher level software engineer and basically had EVERYTHING done at the local Acura dealer....receipts totaled over $15,000 for all kinds of different things.
