Cup holder appreciation

Ok so I know there is a lot of threads about the broken cup holder lid/slider...... But I just wanna give some love on how great the cup holders are in general!! I came from a 2004 Audi A4, and those cup holders suck!!! The one in the dash flexes real bad when a large drink is in it, the other cup holders are in the arm rest!! So with a manual its almost impossible to use But these TL cup holders are amazing!! They hold my large drinks, even my tall yeti style cups!! It truly is the small things that make it so nice! Though those little rubber teeth holders do not like to let my chick-fil-la cups come out lol

The 3G TL cup holders were nice. The 4G uses these little spring loaded plastic tabs that are supposed to hold the cup more securely. They work, but the rattle like MF'er if you have an aluminum can or water bottle in there. Basically any "hard" container. Drives me crazy. I've lined the tabs with fabric strips to fix it.

lol funny that you said something about the cup holder, I drove mine MT TL this morning and yet I was wable to put a 32oz Yeti cup in the cup holder without spilling coffee.

Yes every 3g TL suffer from a broken slider, I don't know why they don't make the slider sturdy as CL-S MT or 2nd gen MDX

Gotta do something with the weather, just like cracked dashes, broken cup holder is not that common here in Canada.

But along the topic, yes our cup holders are awesome!

Does the holder itself break or just the sliding lid?

The slider cover is what usually breaks. Mine is still flawless probably due to the fact that I just left it in open at all times.

it actually depend on how much you use it, the more it slide in and out the faster it break, the one in my TL-S lasted until 2017 so 10 years. I like to have the slide door since it a perfect spot to put your phone there during driving.

Funny thing about cup holders; I had an E39 BMW which had two spindly cup holders which were effectively worthless, so worthless I didn't even know my car had them until I was about ready to get rid of the car. Regarding the cup holders in my 3G TL, I keep the lid closed pretty much at all times so I forget my car has them.

My 3G suffers both...last year saw a small crack on the dash about 3 inch long then winter came...VIOLA! a crack along the passenger side airbag.
My cup holder slider decided to separate a couple months ago. But hey not bad for a 12 year old car with 131k on the clock! And yes the cup holder depth and location is the best!

You mean to tell me my car had a slider to cover the cup holders at some point in its life?
