Smile Covercraft sun shade custom fit... gap?

For those who had/have the Covercraft custom fit sun shade for their 04-08 TL, did you have the gaps as show in the pictures below?
It's supposed to be custom fit but pictures definitely show gaps on both sides.. It's not my pictures and i'm not sure if that shade was custom made for 04-08 TL

Thanks in advance!

Not familiar with this brand, if I were you I would return for one that fit the entire window.

I can vouch for this, though. It does a GREAT job.

Those are my pictures.

It was not custom made, rather it was bought from autoanything.com.

sorry if my question wasn't clear. I meant was it made for Acura TL 04-08? or did you buy it for a different car and therefore the gap.

I have the same cover, and gap. It works very well though, even if there's not 100% coverage. I had the mylar type and it developed a defect where it sagged while up against the windshield, so to me, this one is much better.

okay! i'm debating between Covercraft and Heatshield. To me, the Covercraft looks sturdier and thicker compared to Heatshield. However as you mentioned the Covercraft doesn't have 100% coverage compared to Heatshield which I think is stupid because what's the point of custom fit if it doesn't fit 100%.

It was specifically for the 04-08 TL.

Even with the gaps, the shade is awesome. It has a rigid cardboard core so it doesn't bend or sag. One side has UV reflective material while the other is soft grey cloth. I bought the same one for my dad's G35x.

I picked up the covercraft off the BM. It does have the small gaps on the side, but I really like it. The rigid folding construction makes it a breeze to put up and take down, and it doesn't look all wrinkled or anything. I can also leave my V1 up with the shade in place.

nice. so now that we figured out there are in fact gaps with the Covercraft shade, I kinda wonder why they don't make it 100% fit like Heatshield.
It's misleading to buy something advertised as custom fit but then it's not. I mean what's the difference between Heatshield's "custom fit" and Covercraft "custom fit" ya know!!?

Can't argue with you there. Not sure why they didn't make it a more perfect fit. Works good enough for me though.

Something is better than nothing.

Here's an (crappy) outside shot of my shade:

Done deal. Just bought one from AutoAnything for $47.99 Free shipping.
Although they do not fit 100% like the Heatshield I still like the fact that they have the thicker and sturdier look. Hopefully it won't disappoint me

Thanks to all of you for your evaluation of our UVS100 Ultra-Violet Shield, it is one of our more popular product lines. These are individually, custom-patterned to each year, make and model of vehicle. Because of the sturdy construction, it is necessary to have a slight design tolerance to avoid damage to the product and assist with ease of installation and removal. Again, we appreciate your comments and take your opinions seriously. Our goal is always to put the best product out there for your vehicle. Feel free to contact us with any concerns or questions. You can send us an IM on this forum, email us at buzz@covercraft.com or call 1-800-426-8377. Thanks again!

I recently bought this same one from CoverCraft. I love it! It does have the small gaps but its not that bad IMO. Its definitely WAY better than any local one you would buy at autozone, Walmart, etc..... Its worth the $ to me.

I recently bought the CoverCraft shade for my 06' TL from Amazon. It arrived yesterday and I've already used it. The shade is very sturdy and it completely covers my windshield. The only problem is where to store it cuz it's pretty big and thick. Still, I highly recommend it.

Covercraft here too and absolutely love it compared to the auto parts store spring-loaded jobs. I got the nice leather-like bag for it too for winter storage. I just put it behind my seats when not in use and it is easily accessible when I park.

I have a thermometer in my car and with today's heat near 105° and tinted windows withthem cracked all day it was still near 130° when I left work @ 5pm. I can only imagine how hot it would be without this in place.

On a side note, I see they offer them in colors now. Only silver was available when I bought mine last year, bronze may have been a nice touch with my CBP.

those are good pictures tyler. that looks like a high quality shade, which it should be for the price they want. I need to pull the plug and get this, just don't have the fundage for it now
next paychecks extra funds going towards new bbq.

this is definitely on the wishlist though

I really can't speak any higher about this shade. I loved mine enough to buy one for my dad's G35.

The gaps are there but nothing terrible enough to return it.

I'm certainly happy to have mine considering we're in triple digit heat here in Chicago. Quality tint, windows cracked, moonroof popped open, and covercraft in place - it's about as good as I can do.

One nice thing is that no matter how hot it gets, my black leather and steering wheel never get hot. That alone is worth it in my opinion.

been using the fold up walmart ones and they work fine, but decided the covercraft has more protection (thicker and insulated), so I bought one yesterday from amazon!
