Help with lower grill fogs on an 05

So I was trying to this mod this past weekend and quickly discovered it was a lot more involved that I had anticipated...

Do I need to cut the circled sections out?

yes, those need to be cut. This mod is much more time consuming then it appears. I am doing the ebay accord fogs and 07-08 lower grilles and it looks awesome but is taking some time! Are you planning on hid's in the fogs? If so ddmtuning has an awesome kit for $40!

I already have my HID kit... I just need to find a day to sit down with my bumper and cut away.

For mounting, is there any reason to not mount these with a strong plastic adhesive? Theres essentially only 1 adjustment screw on my housing (up/down) and that'll still be functional. I'm 90% I'll be doing this and just cutting off the existing mounting brackets since they don't fit up anyway.

well, mounting the actual fogs is the last thing I have to do, everything else is in. I don't think I will be using the brackets either but we'll see what happens when I actually go to put them in. Last time I had everything apart I didn't see how the brackets would line up to fit in there.

^ Yeah I have a friend wiring everything and mounting the ballasts. I just have to take care of the fitment and mounting the housings. I'm probably gonna cut off the flappy plastic stuff and the grind off the metal brackets... then get some plastic weld and install them.

Dont just start cutting away. If you can, put the foglight over the area and mark it before cutting. its better to cut less and trim some more, than to over cut, and be left with nothing to hold the fog light assembly.

sorry 'bout that. I'll try to go under the car later and take a pic from behind the bumper. hopefully that will give you an idea where to cut if you havent done so. i feel bad I wasnt able to take pics of the cut areas when mine was done.

^ That would be helpful. Its very annoying that the Aspec needs to be partially removed... right now, my lower grills are out so the sooner I can get this done, the better.

Ive posted this pic before on other lower fog threads, but since jmkiang is a friend, I have no problem reposting

Notice how the bracket on the right side is used, and how its tab is bent prior to install to make it all work like cake.

Thanks man! I do like how you utilized the existing piece and only cut where necessary. I think I'll try your approach first... because if/when I f*ck that up, I can just cut the whole thing off and do what I intended. Why didn't you just remove that bracket? From the pic, looks like theres just 2 screws holding it in place.

that looks similar to mine actually. the plastic in the bumper is quite sturdy. once you just have it screwed in place it wont move.

^ I was referring the unused metal bracket to the left of the housing. If its not being used, why not remove it? Weight reduction

I bought them from another AZ member... they aren't OEM but he claims they aren't from eBay either. Purchased from another aftermarket parts site but most probably they are eBay quality. The lenses are plastic

I did get the OEM switch though

Thanks for posting that pic. It looks exactly the same as the way I mounted my fogs. The bracket on the left is actually clamping down on the plastic to hold the fog in place. It is functional.
See how I used it in this thread.

10000K fogs... 6000K low beams.

I think I need 10000K low beams too.... they look too yellow against the LEDs and 10000K fogs.

^ Thanks. It wasn't the cleanest install I must say but I was more worried about secure mounting and proper aiming. Everytime I had the housing in place to bolt down, it always shifted a bit once everything was tightened. I used some custom brackets to mount everything (thin sheet metal strips). Its pretty secure and I finally got the aiming a little better. After the install, the fogs were pointing higher than my low beams!

My friend did all the wiring so major props to him. I got an OEM switch too so it looks nice and pretty.... just gotta change the bulb colors so they all match.

Still have to cut my grill inserts and put them in. I also want to see if I can "fill" in the gaps around the housings with something... maybe some type of black plastic adhesive...?

NICE!!!! those 10000k's look sick but I agree you may need some matching low beams as well.
