Where can you buy carbon fiber parts for the interior of a 07 TL

There are dash kits out there though. Too much CF for my taste personally, but others like 'em.

carid.com has a few different kits....from like 7 to 40 pieces

If you're interested in the look only, you can wrap it in CF di-noc film

I like the CF interior look but it's going to be hard to match the factory CF color the TL has in it already. Most vinals are going to be either to yellow in color or to bright and the TL's have a dark looking CF. I want to find the CF side pillars for the outside of the car. The part in-between the windows...I had them on my AMG but can't find them for the 3G TL-S.

di-noc works great in the interior if you just want the look.

WOW!! That looks bad ass actually. Do they make one thats darker or more like the factory look? Take some more pics too. :)

that di-noc looks sweet too..carid.com has just the kit that does just the factory wood grain and fake carbon areas....its like 58 bucks or something...not bad for real cf

thanks... it comes in a bunch of different colors and what i have is the darkest they have. its a great material and is pretty easy to work with... here is a link to the place that you can buy di-noc.

Yeah I looked at that Carid.com but wasn't really impressed with them. I like their steering wheel upgrades. Also if you go to the Carid.com site and click on the black CF vs the "real" CF they are much darker than the one you have. I want it like that but yours is killer!!

I just clicked the link.....it's a vinyl wrap that you did? They don't have like pre cut pieces that just go on?

yeah its a vinyl wrap... you have to take all the pieces out and wrap them individually

People say it's easy to wrap. I had a really tough time especially around corners and edges.

Are the oem cf parts especially? Mines not in perfect condition and I'd love to change it

Maybe its just me but I love the look of the aluminum or silver trim with the Ebony interior. The carbon fiber looks great but I think the stock setup is pretty damn good

i decided not to wrap the silver trim... i think the contrast between the di-noc and the silver trim looks good

Kasual, believe it or not, I would not recommend the OEM Carbon Fiber pieces because they are so dark, you cannot see the "thread" of the carbon fiber. There is not enough contrast between the two fibers. I'm usually an OEM guy, so...........

The aftermarket kits are good, the di-noc is better if you have the patience and manual dexterity to cut them out and do it (see RPTLS' post).

how hard is it to do the di noc? can an amateur like myself do it with patience?

Yes, just have a sharp edge razor blade and a hair dryer (to use as you are curving and stretching the material).

you want to get some adhesion promoter if you want to have a longer lasting wrap... this stuff will prevent it from peeling

im not gonna take credit... my boy is the one who did my car and then taught me how to use di-noc properly... i had no experience with vinyl wrapping at the time but since then ive done a few cars and they have turned out just as well... but it is a long process so i wont bs and say that i did the work in those pics

I just want to put the Di-Noc on the window switch surrounds and the steering wheel controls- is it easy to remove these pieces without having to take the whole door panel off- (also, can the silver surrounds of the steering wheel controls be taken off easily and without disturbing the airbag)? Thanks in advance

To rptls08, your interior looks great!

taking the door panel off is the easiest way... im sure you can do it by just prying the pieces off but im not sure... i wasnt sure about the airbag being disturbed so ive never tried it.

To do the window switches, did your son just put an appropriately sized piece on the switch panel, shrink fit with a heat gun, and trim, or did he take off your door panel? He's very talented by the way.

My local stereo shop was able to do some pieces when they did my custom dash (Kenwood DNX7160). Check out the install.

^^^ the work looks real clean man, but may I ask why you installed that when you have the oem navi already?? for video/playstation you could have gotten the navtool and pie unit for more of a "cleaner" oem look.as well as saved a few bucks. GL

Besides the klackin' of the diesel, the thing I miss most about my Mercedes is the Zebrano wood.

Would much rather have a darker reddish wood with the black leather. To each his own, eh..... :tongue:

the OE navi was disappointing and the kenwood is 100 times better, plus the next project is turning my old monitor into a digital TV tuner. I'm gettting one with a subscription and will be able to watch TV when i move.

Why not just get a navtool instead or do the car pc? It would have solved all those problems into one and would be 2-3x less money. Looks great though, :thumbsup:.

checked out your garage, can you post a link where you purchased your di-noc cf? ( have an 04 tl id like to install it into)

I did these over the weekend. Took a couple hours, but once you get a feel it's super simple. Second one I flew through in thirty minutes.
