Can I remove the pass through? (3GTL Garage# F-151)

Has anyone pulled the plastic around the pass threw and door off ? Can this be removed from the back seat? I can’t get my snowboard to fit, but it should go if the plastic was removed.

This is the one thing I don't like about the TL car. Where to put my snowboard.

If you figure this one out, please let me know.

Can anyone with a manual look this up for me? I'm going up to the mountian on Wednesday and want to try and pull this out. I would go out and try but its going to be about -20 (celsius) tonight and I don't want to be out there poking around too long. Thanks

It is real easy to remove the pass-through cover, just 2 screws, 3 hooks, and 3 clips.
The clips are upholstery clips that look like rings which are clamped on. You should be able to remove them yourself, but you might have to take it to an upholstery shop to get them put on if you don't have the right tool.

But, the hard part is removing the rear seat, which must be done to get to the easy part. Here's a thread from the 3G Garage which will show you what you need to do. From what I read, the hardest part is getting the last bolt back in. Good luck.

Let me know if you are going to tackle this job, so if I get ambitious I will scan the page from the service manual and put it in this thread.

The pass through opening before removing the grame is approximately 6 1/2" X 10 1/4", not even big enough to get a 1X12 board through it, so probably not a snowboard either.

After removal, the opening is approximately 8X17".

Thanks Ron, if there's more info in the manual then what's on the pages that you had in your post that would be great. I had looked at those posts but hoped that I didn't' t have to pull out the whole seat to get the pass threw door and plastic off. But I think the only way I'm going to get snowboards back there is to remove the door.

And I can remember the sales guy opening the trunk and saying you can fit 2 snowboards threw it.

Maybe your sales guy didn't know the difference between a snowboard and a ski.

Did you ever got the snowboard fit throught the pass through after it is removed?

I realize that this is an ancient thread, but I'm just wondering if anyone has been successful in doing this. I went boarding on Friday and had to keep my board in a bag and lay it diagonally across the back. Pain in the ass and I'm afraid I will end up scuffing up the interior (plus no room for anyone in back). Any success stories from fellow snowboarders?

I am going to attempt this tomorrow (at least try to). I wont be able to fit anything through but makes the subs sound a lot better to have it down. My back seat just looks horrible with that ugly black plastic piece laying there.

BUMP. This may be a 10+ year old thread, but there is still very little info on whether this has been done successfully. My own attempts have been frustrating to say the least, and I am currently tempted to saw through that stupid plastic.
