Buying 2005 TL. Expert advice?

Hey I am new here but looking for some expert advice from you guys. I am looking want to purchase a 2005 Acura TL. I found one but am really concerned because it has 125,234 miles and they want $12k. I heard about the issues with this year and so many miles. Here's a link to the posting:

I'd pass, its priced a bit high, no navi and its already been modded a little-all things that would steer me away. There's lots of 3g tls out there to choose from.

Pricing and availability depends on location. Around here, there isn't an Acura dealer in a 150 mile radius, so Acuras in general are a rare bird. I found a private sale, 200K kms (~140K miles) 2005 base AT at under nine grand.

What they said, too high... We paid $3,500 out the door for our '05 TL with NAV, but it has 197k miles at the time.

What? Are you serious? Was it salvaged or auction?
I'm very curious, I've seen 05 TLs with 200k miles and they are asking $7-8k here in SoCal.
I better sell mine before it gets that low in value.

Nope, one owner not salvaged and never been in a wreck. The couple just wanted to upgrade before their wedding in a week. They wanted it gone that same day they picked up their new ride. I thought it was a good deal since service records add up to over $3k within the past year because they had no intention of getting rid of it.

Well, it depends, I wouldn't even give 5k to that car.
Interior color, no nav, not a fan of the rims, rear wing is from ebay and not properly installed, not sure but those tails could be the depo kit from ebay too, with sidemarkers.

I mean getting a TL that's beyond 120k, you will end up paying and wasting time with maintenance.. you will start at one point no matter what, and when you do.. you will want to hold on the car for a long time.

Not even mentioning the transmission on 04-05 TL

But it's your taste at the end, I am just mentioning my thoughts

Who did the 104k service on the car, do you know?
9k is normal, at most

Can't if the the wing spoiler is oem or not but it looks like there is gaps between the trunk lid and mounting points so the trunk might leak.

I have the wing spoiler on my car.

I have a small gap as well where the mounting points are, there is a sponge pad between both which is why it leaves a small gap. It just more noticeable on white cars compared to darker colors.

MEKO what do you mean by the wing spoiler not being installed right? looks centered and about the right distance from the edge of the trunk lid. But not enough photos to tell for sure. I agree that the spoiler is an aftermarket as it lacks the centered Acura emblem engraved below the spoiler like mine which is OEM.

I think that car looks good, apart from that ugly spoiler ... i woudnt be scared of buying a TL with 120k if inspection checks out, you gonna have to do maintenance at any milage either way, that being said, i'd try to get it between 8-9k if i were you or keep looking for another one. Not a big fan of the beige interior, i like black better, but hey it looks alright and the leather looks like its in good condition. As for Navi ... well i could careless.

NADA and KBB, get the wholesale price, i.e. trade in, they paid that for the car or less if they bought it at auction. OR ask them to see there paper work when they bought the car. (That's not always accurate though because they will often add the discount from the new car purchased to the trade in value.) That should be your starting point, offer them that and see what they say. That's how I bought my 08, offered them wholesale, they came back at wholesale + $1K, we settled at wholesale + $400 out the door.

Thanks a lot guys for all the comments! I'm trying to do a lot of research before I make a decision but I think i'm gonna pass on this one. I actually got my eye on 2008 type-s with 90,000 miles for 16k. Only thing is its a private owner.. So they don't have a lot of info or pics. I will have to go and look at this one closely and do a vin check. Here's a link:
