Bad valve adjustment or need fuel system cleaning?

Hello,

(Link to video above)
I took my car in for a valve adjustment to my local mechanic a week ago, and I can't tell if the job was done correctly or not. Little back story, my car pulled up a CEL with misfire codes and I was advised it needed a Valve adjustment and a fuel cleaning by a local honda dealership. I didn't want to pay the honda price so I took it to a mechanic who normally works on my vehicle. he said he could do the VA in a day so I booked the service. On the day of service I received call stating that the VA was going to be another day. The mechanic advised me they were having trouble setting the valves to spec (due to buildup?), and might have to leave them a little loose which would cause a ticking sound. he also stated they will try and get the CEL removed. a bit nervous now, I agreed and let them keep the car another day. on the next day the car was ready and the mechanic advised me that they adjusted the valves to the proper spec and removed the CEL. so i'm happy with the news I pick up my car and on the ride out the car starts stalling on every turn. took it back and was told my throttle body was dirty and needed to be cleaned. they cleaned it and I went on my way. car drives fine by i'm worried because I hear a ticking and whining noise now. i'll attach a video when I can, this form does not take MP4s. My first question is regarding to the video i'll post soon... does this engine sound right? and my next question is should I get a fuel system cleaning? My car has also been taking longer to start and when I kill the engine it does not sound as clean as it use to. 150k miles 6-speed 2004 acura tl. any input is apreaciated. Thanks!

That sounds like it might be the idler pulley or tensioner for your drive belt..

thanks thoiboi. I'm having the timing belt replaced along with the tensioner soon so hopefully that'll make it sound better. Idk much about the idler pulley? I'll have to look into that

.

Bwahahaha!! What a load of crap.

What, you couldn't afford $300 for a Honda shop to do it?

And IMO, unless your engine had more than 150K without a VA, it's a waist of time and money...

Other than the Honda dealership invoicing me $600 I took it to the mechanic I know. My car was pulling up misfire codes with the CEL and never had a VA, to my knowledge, until now and I'm at 150k miles. I was just asking if the engine sounded like an engine should after gettin a VA

Too tight exhaust valves set the code P0172 ( my co-worker had this on 2006 Pilot) and cause engine stalling in cold weather until warms up

yeah I was pulling some p codes but they are gone. Would loose valves cause poor acceleration?

Blown engine?

Does this sound like a blown engine? Sounds like knocking but hoping it's something that can be fixed ? Bad video but you can hear a fast knocking sound around 2000 rpm

Sounds like a subaru, maybe a bent valve? Does it run rough?

I would do a leak down test first.
