Back to Acura after trying out a BMW
I've always owned honda's and a few Acura's. Last year I sold my white 2008 TL base model for a 2008 BMW 335i coupe which had only 27k miles when I bought it. Once it hit 30k I was getting check engine lights for misfires and to top it off warranty had just ended. I've always work on my own cars so I wasn't afraid of messing with the bmw, but starting to think if I was starting to have these problems now at 30k miles what's going to happen when I hit 50k and so on...after making the decision to sell it, I though about a few different cars I should get next. Since me and my wife loved out 2008 TL, I started to look around for another one but this time I wanted a 2008 type s manual in blue or white. Came across a few with high mileage one with no service records or shady carfax history. Found this one at a Kia dealership in Florida, carfax/autocheck history looked good with almost all services done at a Acura dealer down there. Also paid for a private inspection and came back good with a few scratches but nothing major. Came a agreement with price and had it transported up to NJ. Took it for a car wash and so far I'm loving it. Beautiful cars and I think I will be holding on to this one for a while.

How many miles are on this one? How much did you get it for? Also just out of curiosity, how much did it cost to get it delivered? I have a silver type a 6 speed but the blue is my favorite, congrats on the find man!

when I was in the market for a car I also look at 335i, with all the performance number seem good but only later I found out there is problem with fuel pump, and turbo after a search on google so I went with the TL instead.

They are two different cars...First is ride, my 335i had sport suspension which cause the ride to be rough, the type s rides smoother. Second, I needed something more reliable since I have a growing family and don't want to deal with costly repaired. The 335i is a nice car just not to own long terms unless your willing to put money into it to keep up.

335i was a fun car to drive especially with a few mods but like you said, too many issues.

The 335i isn't as unreliable as most people make it out to be. The turbos are warrantied for 8 years/88k miles. The fuel pump is warrantied for 10 years/120k miles. The two mostly costly repairs of the common issues. The problem with them is how expensive everything is. Injectors will run you like $100 a pop. I wanted one before I settled on a TL-S. I still want one actually lol. It's just that, I'm in school and I want a car that will last a long time. Not to mention that a comparable TL-S is about $5k-$7k cheaper. If you can afford one, do it. I can guarantee you it's a MUCH better drivers car than any TL. But do yourself a favor and get a 09+, with good service history and pay for a pre-purchase inspection. Trust me you DO NOT want to get into a BMW blindly.
That being said. I cannot wait to find my 6MT Type S!

BMW needs a couple more years to learn turbos. My buddy's 335i had major tranny problems. Just not reliable at all, bunch of small issues too. Your $$ goes towards repairs with that car. I wanted one too before but decided against it.

Of course they aren't "reliable", especially when compared to a Honda :P. They're high performance machines easily capable of 500bhp on stock turbos. But, their issues are overplayed, that much I do know.

These aren't yesterday's turbo cars. BMW did not go for peak hp, what you get with the 335 is a car that makes huge torque at 1,400rpm (or less) and pulls hard to redline with an insanely flat powerband. They drive more like a 500 cube big block from a power delivery perspective than a small 6 cylinder.
I just wanted to make sure that people realize the turbo isn't just there to create gobs of peak hp, it makes the acceleration feel effortless in daily driving and will get off the line quicker than most. As with most turbo cars, a side benefit is huge gains for little money spent on your first couple upgrades.
In my opinion it drives exactly opposite of how a TL drives in almost every way. To some that's a good thing. To me, not so good.

I never liked German leather in cars. Acura was the first car I got in with leather, I don't' know what the difference is in tanning and so forth but any BMW I sit in that is a few years old the leather smell terrible.
Acura leather seems to keep smellin' goooood

That's probably because there's very little leather in our TLs. I think it's just the center perforated part of the seats and the steering wheel. Maybe the perforated portion of the doors. Everything else as far as I know is fake. I'm not saying that's good or bad but it might be the reason for the difference in smell.
