Anyone ever have their windshield replaced?
Mine is pretty badly scratched and it annoys the hell out of me. Was curious if anyone had theirs replaced, who they went through (dealer or someone like safelite), how satisfied they were, and if the glass looked exactly the same as the factory Acura one (with the black dots around the rear-view mirror and stuff).

I've had Mine done at local glass shop for about 170 installed. If you want the factrory oem glass you have to go to honda or acura and I would bet the price is closer to 350 or 400 for that. Simply because youre at the dealership.
Go with a local glass repair shop and have aftermarket glass put in. Specs wise there is no difference no matter what anyone says. It's all the same.

I had mine replaced by Safelite. Minus the Acura logo it looks the same. Has the black dots at the top and everything else the factory one had. Only complaint I have is that it seems to scratch a little easier (or it could be in my head). Had to do it though because the factory one was cracked.

I've had mine replaced several times due to cracks from various causes. Insurance covered the replacements in full (no deductible or hit to my insurance). Every time it was a smooth and simple thing, call the repair company, open the car for them at my office and come back in a while to replaced windshield. No idea what brand of glass they use but I haven't noticed much difference.

I had mine replaced a month after I got the car. The windshield wipers scratched the hell out of my windshield and when the sun hit it right, I couldn't see.
I chose not to go with OEM. I had my shop order me one so I'm not sure exactly what kind or brand it is, but it gets the job done and I have no complaints.

There is an aftermarket "acoustic" equivalent of the OEM acoustic windshield that is much cheaper and has good reviews from users on this board. I forget the name, but a search for "windshield" should turn it up.

if you want insurance to pay, do they do physical check?
I have only small rock chips, but I want it replaced already
FYI: Dealership will offer a lot more than $300, as one person mentioned here.
I got quoted almost $1000, bc of the acoustic thing on OEM
My deductible is only $100, as I knew I would use it to replace my windshield OEM eventually. This is covered under comprehensive coverage and not collission, and the premium is cheap.

I talked to a rep at Techniglass once who said the aftermarket glass they use is of a lower quality than original Honda glass (even though it still meets the minimum government requirements on safety). He said that Safelite makes glass that is of a higher quality and almost as good as Honda glass. He then mentioned that I can get Honda badged glass if I want, but it was at a premium price.

I had mine replaced by Safelite, the guy scratched the shit out of my A-pillars but I didnt notice it at the time and signed the release, so too bad for me.
It should be about $1000, go through insurance if you have it. 1 replacement a year is free from my company (progressive)

I can't remember off the top of my head who did the work, but the windshield was just like OEM. Very professional. I actually had it done twice, about a month apart. Good thing windshields are free in Florida.

you know.. i can tell the difference between my windshield and my brother's accord's windshield..
it's like i have some extra coating on the surface, so that when it rains, it doesn't have that "WET" feeling, but more like the water is sliding off the surface as i'm driving (even without any rain-x)
so when i'm replacing my windshield, i will still get OEM.. unless someone tell me the safelite does the same thing too..

Everyones Insurance is different man, why don't you just call them and ask them all these questions, thats what you are paying them for.
