Akebono ProAct Brake Pads at Rockauto

Does anyone know the difference between these two sets of brake pads from rockauto.com? I've already tried emailing them and just haven't had time to call their number during business hours. So if someone already knows the diff that'd be awesome. Thanks in advance.

AKEBONO ProACT Part # ACT787 {Front Brake Pads
Ceramic ProACT #7656D787}: $57.79

AKEBONO Part # ACT787 {OE Ceramic}
Front - w/ Auto Trans - ProACT Ultra Premium Ceramic Pad: $48.89

The first, more expensive one, could be for the 6MT, and the second for the 5AT. I looked in their catalog and they don't say what the difference is, so you might need to call them.

I don't know if you noticed, but both of those have the same part numbers on them. This must be some clerical error on their web-site. Also a quick google search for this Akebono part number reveals that it varies wildly for a whole range of Acuras (TSX, 2G TL, 3G TL). I would personally stay away from them unless you know for sure that all those cars use the same front brake pads...

If you have an AT, you can get the OEM Nissin pads from any Acura dealership for the same price. If you have an MT, you can't get squat for under $100, but you might the best prices if your looking for Subaru STi front pads (same brembo pad as 6MT)...

I got the Akebono ProACT pads for our 3G TL from Tirerack. It was the exact same size as the OEM pads. I'm very happy with the Akebono pads. Great initial bite, great performance with no fade... And MUUUUUUUUUCH less dust.

Here's the response I got from Rockauto. It looks like I'll just get the cheaper one since I don't know my OEM part number.

AKEBONO ProACT Part # ACT787 {Front Brake Pads
Ceramic ProACT #7656D787}: $57.79

the number #7656D787 is the OEM part from your old pads. Before ordering this
item, you should make sure that the current item you have has this number on
them because this particular pad only fits if the OEM number matches. The
other pad selection:

AKEBONO Part # ACT787 {OE Ceramic}
Front - w/ Auto Trans - ProACT Ultra Premium Ceramic Pad: $48.89

does not have a specific OEM number and therefore can be used on any 2004
Acura TL with a 3.2L engine.
