This subject may have already been covered, but a search resulted in no info. I am seriously looking at purchasing an '07 TL-S, but want to get a good idea as to actual mpg. I realize mpg will be determined by how one drives... my wife will be driving this vehicle (so not nearly as lead footed as I), with probably 80% of the miles being highway miles.. to the tune of 50 miles/day.

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

So.. what do you owners actually realize.. leadfooted or not??

Around town I average 16-18 in my TL-S.

On the highway I average about 30mpg at around 70mph. I've gotten around 32-34 at 60mph.

With like 95% driving considered city, I get between 16-18 mpg per tank. If I throw in 50 or so miles on the highway, which I do every few weeks, then I get anywhere from 21-24mpg for that tank.

Still very new, so take this with a grain of salt.

Ran mostly Highway and/or non-city miles over the holiday weekend. Had about 28 or 29 MPG average on the TC.

Ran mostly city commute miles this week and have ~18 MPG average on the TC.

almost 6k, lowest I ever got was 23 when it was new, it now averages 25-26 (this was what the MID said when I went to refill, which is almost always a full tank). I would say I do mostly highway (60-70%), city really seems to kill the tl. The MID hit 32 once when I was driving ALL highway but still had 2 of some city-like driving before having to refill and that took me to 28.

Note that no tankful has ever been 100% city, I live 2 miles off of I95 in the middle of nowhere so I always have at least 50% highway driving to get anywhere!

Still very good for a car of this size and power. It took about 2000-3000 miles for the mileage to improve but I am very pleased with it. Gets the same if not a little more than my '96 626v6 auto (of 100 less hp).

When I cruise on the highway at 75MPH, Trip reads 29/30 MPG
About the same as my 02 Saab Aero Wagon. I have never done the manual gas in, gas out mileage math...

I'm getting about 22 MPG for my 62 mile round trip commute. However, this depends on if I go thru the tunnel or over the hill. I have approx. 1900 miles on my car.

I have 4,000 mi on my car.

I average about 21-22 mpg in my daily commute/local driving. (30 mi each way mostly highway but heavy traffic coming home)

I went down to Philly over the weekend and averaged 25mpg. There was light traffic most of the way except for coming back through Staten Island and the belt.

not meaning to high-jack the thread but everyone says it tells them the MPG and i cant find nothing like that on mine...maybe i'm just retarded and need to read the instruction manual :-P

on the highway I have gotten up to 33 mpg going around 70-75.. But most of the time I will see 25-27...

Use the MID display where the speedometer is and click on trip computer and it will list all that good stuff for you.

I have an 6 spd MT, but get 25 mpg with a good mix of country road and highway driving. Better than my MDX and more fun to drive! I also do not drive agressively, but I do have fun with it. It is no gas sipper, but no guzzler either

I did 200 miles on the highway right after fill up and the computer averaged 34 mpg. That was at 80mph straight with cruise control. As I went faster, the mpg went up too. Until I hit 95 then everything went downhill.

i was wondering why you were looking at a TL-S if it was mostly your wife driving. The base TL def gets better mileage + softer ride.

Mine has about 800 miles on it and I am not worried about it at all : it will get better if you keep the same driving habits up and don't be a leadfoot all the time. So right now 22-25 ave. means it will be like close to 25-28 after the engine breaks in.

I drove a TL right before I drove the TL-S.. and was pleasantly surprised by the performance... tho they are two diff vehicles. I would prefer the S, just cuz I will drive it every now and then My wife's vehicle before her current RL (and before boy #2 arrived) was an '02 CL-S.. and she loved the way it drove, as did I... I think she'll love this edition of the S also... but she has yet to drive either.. if she prefers the TL.. she can certainly have the TL. I am just doing my research.

Thank goodness she thought the Prius was gutless

If you spend alot of time idling in traffic, the gas mileage is really low....reset the gauge and take it out on the highway and cruise for a few miles - you should get like 28-29....

I have an '07 TL Type-S w/ 4500 miles on it. I definitely do not drive with a lead foot and I'm averaging 20 mpg, which consists of about 75% city driving and 25% hwy driving.

Hey, are there any women out there that have a TL-S - let's hear from you as to why you chose the S-series over the TL......

The TL-S is tons of fun to drive, yet it seats my two kids very safely and soundly, and it is roomy and comfortable (according to the 6-year old who loves it). We also have an MDX that we love dearly, but the gas mileage is not as good and it is not as fun to drive (although it does own the road, esp. during New England winters). We love our Acuras!!!

Ditto. I've had the car for 2-weeks and haven't reset the Trip Computer. I drive 75 - 80mph on the highway.

I have less than 1000 miles on my Type-S. All local driving. 17 mpg at 22 mile an hour avg.

An Update.

~2900 miles since I last reset my TC.

It shows:

20 MPG
29 MPH Avg Speed (mostly city commute and some wait/idle time; say 30% highway)

92+ hours "drive time".


Mostly sedate in town driving (my wife) mixed with some high rev miles (uh, that'd be me). One oil change/tire rotation about 1500 miles ago.

have 18K on mine and I average around 24mpg. I drive 120+ miles per day highway and drive anywhere between 65-90mph. This also includes lots of stop and go traffic during the morning rush for a good 30 miles per day

Update:

I have 3,900 miles since my last oil change when I reset the trip computer.

The MID says 21MPG at an average speed of 31Mph.

I think the milage is very dependent on how much traffic you see (i.e. average speed) The lower the speed the lower your milage.

My 07 TL averaged abou 22.5 over 11k miles mostly suburban drivning 45-55MPH sith stoplight every so often. My 08 Type-S is averaging 20.9 on the first 4 tanks at 1300 miles same type of driving. I am exoecting the Type-S to do aroun 20.5-21 on average for me since it does use more gas, it also seems to rev up higher before shifting than the base TL did. It is incredible machine even compared to my 07 TL. The 3.5 and AT tranny combo are so smooth and refined, car pulls effortlessly.

I uninstalled my AEM CAI from my 05' TL and put it in my 07' TL-S.

I just took a trip to yosemite and avg 32 MPG the whole way there until I hit the hills. I got there with just one tank of gas from San Diego.

My old car got 33 MPG avg highway and that took me just 30 minutes shy of Sacramento, CA. On 1 tank!

alright guys, not to beat this issue to death ... however, when it comes to keeping track of my car usage, i think i'm one of the few who has A.D.D. over it. i have a mileage log in my car with a mileage entry every morning that i use my TL-S (it probably partially came from when i'm on film sets and have to record my mileage when i do runs back in the day)

but with that said, every time i gas up, i note the total mileage on my car, as well as ALL OF THE INFO from what the trip computer says .... average mph, average mpg, trip miles, trip time ... AND after i gas up, get back into my car, write the info down, i reset the trip computer.

i've been doing this for my last car (volvo v70 LOL) since summer 2005 and that's a whole nother chart that i'll probably post in a thread sometime in reference to how much MORE money i'm spending on a FWD car over an AWD lol (premium gas)

but here's the chart for my TL-S (the date gap is due to me being back in new york and my car left in california)



as you can see, i do mostly local driving with a bi-weekly long-distance trip across town and so my gas mileage is low ... however it is interesting to note that the trip computer IS NOT 100% ACCURATE when it comes to the mileage and doing the calculations

ok, what the heck, i'll just hi-jack the thread more and post some gas charts from my moms 1998 volvo that i took to college w/ me .... and make some people cringe at how the gas prices have fluctuated over the last 2 years

haha another thing to note .... i was poor in college so i used crummy gas so don't flame please! but now w/ the tl-s (and still poor in college) i told myself to only use decent/good gas and 91 octane and higher. so have a peek and if you're not interested, just skip this thread
