Acetone + Gas = Improved Gas Mileage???
Has anyone ever tried to mix a small portion of acetone with gas to get better gas mileage?
There's info on this starting at http://peswiki.com/index.php/Directo..._Fuel_Additive. I was wondering if anyone has tried it on their 3G TL and what improvement, if any, you saw as well as any problems that might have come up.

WOW. Acetone is pretty aggressive stuff. I've seen it completely dissolve materials that gasoline will not affect. Gas is pretty nasty itself but is different from acetone. Granted the concentrations they are talking about are small (a few ounces per 10 gal of gas) but I'd still stay away from this advice.

I agree. I'd expect this stuff to eat right through anything that's not metal in the fuel system. As with many of these easy remedies, I suspect they'd already be in wide use if they really worked that well.

I agree - unless you know what you are doing, messing with acetone is dangerous, and it can be very deleterious to some types of rubber. There are no free lunches. BIG Caveat Emptor!
