Accident on way to work

Will post more tomorrow just thought I'd give a heads up, short story till tomorrow.
Teenager pulled out in front of me he was turning left southbound I was in center lane heading northbound. Pulled out in front of me didn't wait for traffic to clear that was turning right onto street he was on so he could see. I avoided what I could. Longer write up tomorrow and more pictures and video of damage.
Other driver insurance is going to pay for everything to fix on my car, sucks still though. Tired and worn out see you all tomorrow. His fault confirmed by his insurance and local police. No air bag deployed I'm safe no injuries either side.

That sux. Teens will be teens though and, unfortunately, there's no substitute for driving experience. I think they scare me sometimes worse than very elderly drivers.

That looks like its gonna be a pretty decent repair bill even without deployed airbags. Glad no one got hurt.

The kid pulled out in front of me heading work avoided a T-bone collision by swerving hard away from luckily had to stiff suspension just put on ISC sport spring coilovers and had new brake rotors from stoptech helped but still smashed left headlight and left front quarter panel is messed up ,its pushed back a little so door doesn't open all the way still enough for me to get out though. The hood won't open cause the radiator mount got pushed up and the latch is jammed and the quarter panel is under the hood slightly. From the can see the impact and force went into the quarter panel. Cause everything under hood from what I can see is some sheared metal on radiator mount Saved the car big time as much as I could with the reaction time I had, if I'd been anything we would be in hospital and he wouldn't have been in very good condition. But very glad all is ok besides the car of course, but I'm taking it to my car dealer I got the car from and having them do the work, sure the bill with be outrageous but I want replacement parts and I'm not footing the bill of course. What do you think damage cost is? Don't worry about cost of the car.

For a damage like this; would that damage the chassis?

Still drives straight as an arrow and brakes the same looking at bumper and everything inside I don't see anything bent. Everything has kept its shape inside.

When they take the fender off then they will see if there was any frame damage. You will need a new rad support though.

Well I'm lowered and the car I hit was a 98 Buick Oldsmobile turning left so when I was avoiding him he was leaning heavy to the right and I hit behind the rear driver side tire more the bumper than the body of the car.

A 98 "Buick Oldsmobile" ehh... That's a new brand to me...lol. I'm sorry you buddy (car) was injured. My damage was similar the told me (I never saw the car after wreck) except my rocker panel was ripped and side airbag was deployed. The airbag took the cost over to totaled. So you may be good.

Yeah that's what my number was around. I was thinking at least 10k with labor. Not sure though finding out today. Going to body shop to get estimate so other drivers insurance who's paying for it tries to total it, I would have a estimate from the shop on what it would cost roughly.

it's more like 6-7k. but i am pretty sure they won't pay for OEM unless it's state farm.

Other insurance companies will pay for OEM, but sometimes you have to insist. Tell them before the appraisal that you want OEM. USAA fixes with only OEM.

you should have good leverage against the other insurance to use OEM. if not, you can also supplement with underinsured coverage on your end if available. That's what it's for, right? (i honestly dont know)

Not always a true statement. USAA will fix with OEM if there are problems with the aftermarket parts....at least that has been our experience.

If it is not your insurance company paying the bill, I have found you have a much better chance of insisting on OE parts. When it is your own insurance, you flat out are at the mercy of what ever the fine print states. I have had "used" OE parts put on various cars over the years as the compromise.

Rough estimate from body shop is 5k he couldn't give full estimate until I go thru with other drivers insurance tomorrow when geico guy estimates repair. They can't give a real estimate without insurance knowing first with geico, only with State Farm and American family. But he said new rad support and possible "front rail" along the fender. Sounds very promising though. Will get concrete estimate tomorrow.

That frame may be worse than you think. I think it would be a lot higher than the estimate. Did the insurance company come look at it yet? It looks completely twisted on the driver's side from the pics.

P.S. Don't settle for anything but new OEM on this one.

It looks worse in the pictures the fender can't be replaced that'll tell the whole story. Come tomorrow morning I'm taking it to have them look at it. I had body shop I'm taking to briefly look at it he checked out under the fender from the engine bay didn't see frame twist. Yeah I'm pushing OEM all day long till they tell me they have it memorized.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd take the used OEM parts knowing that it will fit right/made right rather than some cheap parts that are new.

i am telling you, most ins companies only pay for "oem compatible" aftermarket parts. trust me, they most likely will tell you they can't give you oem because your car is "old" and company policy only pay for only if the car is like less than 3 years old. if you are lucky enough, they will pay for oem but it's like reburb. but either way keep us updated.

Ok so the core support by the headlight needs replaced $400 part with 9 hours of labor and the apron behind the fender. The radiator support also need replaced and headlight and Vled DRL light getting replaced intake survived with small dent doesn't affect airflow so getting 150$ along with keeping old intake on vehicle. You'll never see dent from inside. Show take 8 days for all repairs. That's the major part replacement. Going get call detailing everything and OEM replacement parts reiterate that again when they call

Whatever amount of money they give you is including parts costs. And that parts cost includes a parts up charge that the body shop charges insurance companies.

They get those parts at a discount and then up charge them to you/your insurance. What you can do is call them out on this and tell them you'll bring your own parts unless they are willing to workout getting the parts for you at their cost. Otherwise you can politely tell them you're willing to go soemwhwre who will do this for you.

I've done it plenty of times; you could save a shit ton of $ and go with oem this way.
